Hidden on a quiet street, yet close to the famous Quadrado and just a 15-minute walk from Praia dos Nativos, this beautifully designed compound in Trancoso is the product of the art and design skills of a New York based expat couple and their shared passion for the culture and lifestyle of Brazil. 

Starting with just a humble cottage, the property was transformed into a chic bohemian retreat inspired by Bahian traditions and infused with sharp contemporary design and eye for detail. Collaborating closely with a local architect and craftsmen, the newly-built main house is laid out over two levels and is constructed of wood, glass, polished concrete and white washing to create a contemporary Bohemian feel while the original cottage has retained its rustic charm. 

Divided by the pool area and courtyard gardens, the main house and the cottage each feature a unique mixture of modern details and traditional Bahian elements and both include large Porta Baia doors that open up to the deck area organized around the Indonesian tiled pool – creating a fantastic indoor-outdoor habitat.

With a total of four bedrooms (three in the main house and one in the cottage) the property can accommodate up to eight and is ideal for family and friends to vacation together, with areas for privacy. The fully-equipped self-catering kitchen is perfect for preparing meals for the outside dining area, or you can opt for a private chef.

Stylish, tranquil and very welcoming, this is laid-back Brazilian style at its best.

The charming and rustic town of Trancoso sits along the southern region of the Atlantic coast of Bahia along beautiful stretches of unspoiled shoreline. A former hippy destination, the town is attracting a more jet set crowd of late but remains laid-back. From the Quadrado, to the cobblestoned streets and candy colored houses, this bluffside village hums along at a dreamy pace. 

The nearby beaches of Praia do Espelho, Praia dos Nativos, Rio da Barra are to the north, and Rio Verde, Itaquema and Ponta de Itapororoca are to the south. Further north is the historic town of Arraial D’Ajuda in the district of Porto Seguro belonging to the region known as Discovery Coast (Costa do Descobrimento), where Portuguese explorers arrived in 1500. A peaceful and unique seaside village, it's located on a plateau overlooking the breathtaking coastline.
