Elevated, Pacific Oceanview Escape
Tucked into a lush jungle mountain above the white sand beach retreat of Troncones, this newly designed architectural getaway by JLG Arquitectura gives space to design and recreation lovers—those seeking a contemporary beach house in the hills designed for yoga, exercise or meditation.
Jungle Living in the Tropical Troncones Heights
Designed to take in inspiring views, this modern architectural home is tucked into the lush jungle heights of Troncones, only two blocks from the Pacific shores.
A spacious, open-plan living and dining area opens into an infinity pool deck that melds into an outdoor lazing zone that's hung with hammocks and equipped with a grill, dining table, and clay oven.
The four sleep spaces (with 10 spots) are each different. There is a primary king suite with private bathroom outfitted with an open-sky shower and soaking tub. There are two bedrooms with two double beds each, work spaces and full baths. The final space is a TV room with an overflow sofa bed and bathroom.
In-home relaxation and outdoor common areas are designed for yoga, exercise and meditation, and there’s an outdoor shower with Pacific panoramas and a full bathroom off the TV room/overflow sleep space.
Around
A relatively unspoiled section of Mexico’s Pacific coastline near better-known Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, Troncones is a lush outpost tucked into the elevations of the Sierra Madre mountains. The small coastal town of less than 1,000 is a surfer’s destination, a low-key, laze-in-the-sun alternative to its glitzier waterfront neighbors. Whale watching comes to town each December to April, and the lagoons around Troncones are also known for their biodiversity of birds and aquatic species. The area’s left-rolling breaks are loved by surfers, and the town has also become a wellness destination for yogis, meditative types, and folks practicing alternative healing.
Locals—many fishermen by trade—still offer the daily catch to local taco stands and family-run restaurants, plus beachside palapas serving ceviche and tequila. Blessed with miles of virgin beaches where pelicans skim the water and endangered sea turtles lay their eggs, this section of Pacific coast is pocked with tidal pools and is also home to eco-tour outfitters who arrange kayaking in the La Boca Estuary, chartered fishing expeditions, and guided horseback rides.
