Keeping the History of Liguria Alive
Casa Tunin is the largest house in the Vecchi Sassi collection. Architect Simon Filler’s philosophy was to reduce the 220-square-meter structure to its essentials, preserving its original charm. The design's identity is based on local materials, reusing ancient stone to keep the building's history alive and connected to its Ligurian surroundings.
Inside, the home is spacious, with stone walls defining the spaces and two fireplaces, one in the living room and the other in the kitchen. The latter is designed for communal cooking, embodying the essence of simple living. There is also an office space that's filled with books and an artist studio.
There is a loggia on the first floor next to the bedroom and a garden with a sunny place for dining. The true centerpiece is the loggia, which provides spectacular, panoramic views over the medieval village, the valley's olive groves, and the Ligurian Sea. This is the spot where most time is spent, soaking in the landscape.
What we love
What don't we love about this home? The renovation of the space, the art work, the tiles, the dining table and chairs, the reading nook, and of course the loggia with the stunning view.
Layout
The home accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms, all featuring queen-size beds. There are two bathrooms. The indoor spaces connect to a small garden with terrave, and a loggia, which offers views over the town and valley out to the ocean.
