20th-Century Vintage in the Eternal City
Born from a desire to move beyond traditional hospitality, it reflects a personal design philosophy by owner Pino Cau and interior designer Nora Pastore, who harmonized the building's 1600s bones with bold mid-century accents and contemporary artworks. Every corner feels intentional, from the vintage Olivetti typewriters to the bespoke kitchenettes, creating a space that honors Roman craftsmanship while maintaining a playful, modern edge.
The interiors are a dialogue between eras, featuring board-marked textures and original terrazzo floors. Furnishings range from 1950s Italian classics to custom pieces by artist Alfred van Escher. Most apartments are elevated by private wellness facilities, including integrated Turkish baths or saunas. Society Limonata linens and Le Labo apothecary products ensure a high-tactile experience that balances raw materiality with refined comfort.
While the apartments are centered around a quiet internal courtyard typical of Roman palazzos, several units feature private balconies. These perches offer a front-row seat to the rhythmic bustle of the Via in Arcione, allowing guests to observe the city’s life from a secluded, elevated vantage point. It is the perfect spot for a quiet morning espresso before the city fully wakes.
