Four Designer Flats at the Foot of a Stunning Hilltop Castle
These four designer flats, each one uniquely styled, stand in the shadow of the dramatically perched Arco Castle, united by the creativity of Paola Del Fabbro. The interior designer has infused the four classic, stone-walled spaces with velvety lime plaster finishes, contrasting contemporary wallpapers, and textural oak parquet and bespoke Fioranese porcelain gres floors.
Four Designer Flats in the Shadow of Arco Castle
Designed by Del Fabbro Creating Lifestyle, these four independent apartments in Arco, at the foot of the town’s dramatic castle ruin, are a combination of traditional stone walls and elegant modern surfaces. Natural oak parquet and eco-friendly Fiemme Tremila woods cover the flats’ floors, along with custom created porcelain gres in the living areas. Wallpapers and lime plaster finishes bump up against the classic old stones, and each flat’s clean-lined design feels at once historical and strikingly contemporary.
Layout
Lago: A kitchen, living room, double bedroom and bath make up this 70-square-meter space for two in the elegantly contrasting, subtle green and silvery grey color palette of its lake inspiration.
Deco: Richly hued and art inspired, this bright, eclectic flat for two offers 40 square meters with a living room and open-plan kitchen, small terrace, and a bedroom/bathroom suite awash with color and the panache of mixed patterns.
Olio: A romantic alcove for two inspired by nature, this 45-square-meter space features a canopy bed, a glass-enclosed bathroom and a wallpaper garden to offset its old stone and soft, olive-hued ceiling timbers.
Nido: An elegant attic nest for two with views of the stunning Arco Castle, this flat spreads out for 85 square meters under slanting ceilings, offering a beautiful kitchen with a view and spotlit prep island, plus a freestanding centerpiece bathtub.
Experiences
The four-flat boutique property also offers a menu of experiences for living the local lifestyle to its fullest. Think an in-apartment chef preparing regional delicacies, a design workshop in Del Fabbro’s showroom, or an on-property private event.
Around
The property is located at the center of historic Arco on a narrow street at the foot of the town’s striking clifftop castle ruin, nestled between nature and culture in Italy’s scenic Trentino region, north of Lake Garda. Outdoor recreation is at a premium in the area, and historical visits are also top of the regional “must do” list.
The landmark Castello di Arco can be seen for miles around, its fortified walls and crenellated towers zig-zagging across a massive rocky hill that marks the town. The mighty crag and the rocky hills of the region have made Arco a destination for rock climbers, but first: the castle. Dating back to the 12th century, the Castello’s prison, tower, venerable halls and several intact rooms can be visited. There are 14th-century frescoes restored in the mid-1980s, and the village’s striking landmark has appeared in numerous paintings by masters such as Albrecht Dürer’s interpretation that hangs in the Louvre today. Getting up to the castle is a strenuous 20-minute walk uphill from Arco’s fortified historical district through a grove of olives and up to the vertiginous towers.
Surrounded by jagged crags and rocky outcroppings, Arco is a famed destination for rock climbers who have gathered for more than two decades at the annual Rock Master competition. The town is home to indoor climbing gyms for practice, and the surrounding rock faces encircling town are marked with routes, mostly for intermediate and expert climbers. Mountain biking and hiking is great in the area, too, and Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake, means water activities are within easy reach, along with scenic waterfront towns, castles, Roman villas and archeological sites, not to mention dazzling dining options and low-key mountain taverns and inns.
