Agricultural Architecture Revisited
This small luxury hotel in Italy combines the picturesque and rural atmosphere of Le Marche with an urban-chic renewal of a collection of charming and historic farm dwellings. Strongly identified with its rustic roots, the contrasting style preserves the spirit of the region but with a sophisticated modern minimalism we like.
There are also two lofts on the property (sleeping up to 4 guests each).
Located in the picturesque Marche region surrounded by panoramic views of the countryside, this small luxury hotel in Italy has been transformed from a collection of humble farm dwellings into a modern holiday retreat.
Designed and conceived by a husband and wife team who escaped the chaotic city life of Milan, the property was in complete disrepair and took over five years to restore. Redefining the structures from both a functional and architectural point of view, the duo opted for a mix of styles between rural and contemporary while still preserving the spirit of the region.
Comprised of a main farmhouse, a chicken coop and a barn, each of the three structures have been rehabilitated with several eco-friendly architectural and technological solutions including photovoltaic panels, rain water collection tanks and LED lighting.
The large farmhouse houses the B&B while the tool shed was turned into two independent lofts and the chicken coop has been reserved for the owners. Using natural materials and colors aimed at preserving the harmony of the surroundings, the interiors were reimagined with clean lines, neutral colors and finishes and a calm minimalism.
Both lofts are laid out with self-catering kitchens and living areas on the ground floor and a double mezzanine bedroom that sleeps two with room for two more on the sofa beds which is ideal when traveling with kids. Each bedroom is oriented to enjoy either the sunrise or sunset over the countryside with views of the charming village of Filottrano in the distance.
The main farmhouse includes a ground-floor suite with direct access to the gardens and a private terrace as well as five view rooms upstairs. The bistro serves traditional local fare as well as innovative modern dishes indoors or out on the terrace and is open daily and on request for additional meals and special tastings.
The rambling grounds include grassy gardens and terraces with a massive pool that has received an international design award highlighting original use of ceramic in construction.
Ideal for those who want a rural escape far from the crowds, this is a relaxing and peaceful retreat.
