A Mini Farm Set in Expansive Grounds
This lovely cabin rental in Croatia has been meticulously restored, with simple rustic furnishings and great attention to detail. It's set in rolling countryside, just north of Zagreb, and makes a perfect retreat for a romantic getaway or a family vacation.
This 100-year-old wooden house is located just 15 miles from Zagreb near the small town of Luka. It's a mini farm set in expansive grounds and surrounded in picturesque hilly countryside, but it's not short of creature comforts.
We love the details - the simple wooden floors with scattered rugs, small square windows with shutters, and the sweet, rustic furnishings - some left unfinished and others painted in vivid primary colors. The old teal rocking chair is particularly lovely, as is the vintage sewing machine turned into a table, and the exposed brick fireplace.
The country-style kitchen is a lovely space for creating local dishes, and there is also an outside grill. The attic bedroom has a vaulted wooden ceiling and a collection of pallet beds, and there are two further beds in the dining area.
The property can be booked for events, and often holds yoga and meditation events. A real gem among cabin rentals in Croatia.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The house sleeps seven guests in one attic bedroom and a dining room with two single beds. The owners are available to help with food and drink, and with ground transportation.
AROUND
The spa town of Terme Tuhelj is a 20-minute drive from the cottage. The spa has thermal waters and a healing mud spring, and is surrounded by nature and hills. Also close by is the village of Kumrovec, the home of Josip Broz Tito, which is now an open-air museum with original houses from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Forty-five minutes drive from the cottage is the new Krapina Neanderthal Museum, which is located near the discovery site of the Krapina Neanderthals. The museum's architecture is based on the habitat of prehistoric man. Within an hour is Castle Trakošćan, which dates back to the 13th century, and is surrounded in a park, forest and lake.
