We love a cottage by the sea, and this cabin rental in Nova Scotia is located in a place of spectacular beauty and privilege. Exceptionally charming and full of authentic character, you're within minutes of the famous Cabot Trail and all the natural beauty of Cape Breton Island.
Perched on a cliff in complete seclusion overlooking Chimney Corner Beach and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the cottage is surrounded by over 130 acres of wooded forest and windswept highlands.
The traditional coastal design mimics the maritime architecture of the region with shingle and clapboard construction that maintains the historical Cape Breton style.
Designed and built by artists and native Canadians, the house was a labor of love that reflects their appreciation for the area, its culture, history and traditions.
Charming and comfortable, the interiors are decorated with rustic contemporary furnishings and decor with two cozy bedrooms that sleep up to three guests comfortably.
The outside of the cottage is just as stunning as the inside with a veranda boasting wall-to-wall, eight-foot-high windows and an exterior deck positioned perfectly to spot lobster boats, eagles, moose, bobcats, and whales passing by most of the year, not to mention some of the most dramatic sunsets and panoramic views.
A world of natural beauty is at your doorstep, from the warm sands of Chimney Corner beach to the world-renowned Margaree River (great for salmon and trout fishing) to a mature hardwood forest to explore.
Around
Located at the eastern end of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island lies along the Gulf of St. Lawrence where the famous Cabot Trail roadway encircles the island. Passing through rugged coastline and forests and along the edges of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the road takes you through spectacular scenic beauty.
Less than 30 minutes north, the park has an extensive network of hiking trails including the Skyline Trail that overlooks the gulf, as well as dramatic waterfalls, rivers, and highlands.
Both the fabulous beach and bluffs of Whale Cove and the beaches and lighthouse of Margaree Harbor are within a few minute's drive, while the beach nearest the cottage is ideal for swimming in warm months.
Head south down the dramatically beautiful Broad Cove Road on the way to the town of Inverness, with its great pubs and cafes as well as a local music and arts and crafts scene. With its mix of Celtic, Acadian and Native cultures, the island has a rich history and unique traditions with various music and cultural festivals throughout the year.
A breeding ground for migratory whales, the area is also home to a diverse and abundant array of wildlife.

The Guestbook
See what our community is saying about DeepBlueSea Cottage.
We just stayed here for ten nights and it was everything we expected and more. Stewart was a super host and very helpful. The photos and description are exactly as in the listing. It was the nicest, most relaxing and peaceful vacation we have had in a long time. We really hope to go back next year.
This is an extraordinary property on all fronts. It feels like the edge of the world and a departure from all things familiar to our modern existence. If you want to escape, unplug and disappear, look no further. The living space is tastefully constructed - combining old and new - and is immaculately manicured. The property’s host is a seasoned connoisseur of all things related to the gifts Cape Breton has to offer. The owner and the property both seem to exude a pride and true love of nature and it’s inhabitants. This experience is one that celebrates our relationship to the old world that I believe we all long for. I cannot wait to return.
