Renovated Farmhouse with a Pool in an Olive Grove near Menfi, Sicily
Dimora Bucalo is a renovated farmhouse in the countryside outside Menfi, in southwest Sicily, set in eight hectares (about 20 acres) of olive grove. It sleeps four guests in two bedrooms, which suits a couple or two, or a small family. Everything is on the ground floor: the bedrooms, as well as a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen.
There are two ways to spend a day here, and we suggest you do both. Staying put means enjoying the private pool, the outdoor shower, and the shaded veranda at the back, where the barbecue helps dinner last well into the night. A second furnished terrace gives you a choice of shade through the day.
Going out means the sandy beaches at Portopalo (only 5km away), the archaeological park at Selinunte, and the wineries around Menfi in between. Midweek, a housekeeper comes for two to three hours and changes the towels, which gives you extra time to enjoy the home or explore.
