Along the Banks of the Douro
Facing the mouth of the Douro in the heart of Porto, this small luxury hotel in Portugal offers what “portuense” hospitality truly means. A passionate family project envisioned, designed, and conceived by three women from the same famlly, the hotel allows for a connection to the past while firmly rooted in the present, offering a taste of tradition and a tranquil, modern oasis in the city.
The 19th-century townhouse has been meticulously restored with a minimalist aesthetic, pairing vintage and contemporary Portuguese designs that are stylish yet unpretentious. Step through the “Two Doors” and discover a welcoming atmosphere that flows with Portuguese generosity.
The restoration brings a taste of modernity within the historic context of the city, combining vintage pieces with furniture exclusively designed for the project with a meticulous attention to detail. Bright pops of colors and rich textures create harmony and simplicity.
Each of the eight individual rooms are unique and simply decorated in dreamy whites, four rooms look out toward the river and sea, while the rest overlook the gardens.
At the back of the house is a peaceful garden, offering a well-positioned retreat within the city, inviting guests to relax in a tranquil setting.
Breakfast is served daily with traditional homemade flavors, using high quality seasonal, fresh and unprocessed ingredients sourced locally, giving preference to produce respecting nature.
With various rooms and external spaces, Duas Portas is ideal for parties, weddings, meetings and gathers, as well as other events.

Around
The seaside neighborhood of Foz do Douro offers some of the best areas along the Douro for a leisurely promenade along the riverbanks and some of the most spectacular views of the city from the nearby Miradouro de Santa Catarina viewpoint. Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal, but its historic center, the Ribeira district with its cobbled streets, old storefronts and plazas, is still largely preserved and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.
Rich in medieval history, the city is also famous for Santa Catarina street for shopping, traditional Fado music and the acclaimed Cafe Majestic along with Batalha Square where most of the city’s important cultural events and shows take place. Sights not to miss include the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves and Rem Koolhaas’ Casa da Música.
And while in the city that created Port wine, enjoy the many cellar tours offered.
