A Place of Spectacular Beauty and Privilege
We love a cottage by the sea, and this vacation home for rent in Nova Scotia is located in a place of spectacular beauty and privilege. Charming and private, you'll have the stunning beach largely to yourself from where you can watch the whales, wander the shores and the nearby trails, and take in the sunsets and starry night skies.
A Place of Spectacular Beauty and Privilege
Perched on a cliff overlooking Chimney Corner Beach and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, this vacation home for rent in Nova Scotia is situated near the renowned Cabot Trail. Surrounded by wooded forest and windswept highlands, the house is very private, with spectacular west-facing views.
The traditional coastal design mimics the maritime architecture of the region with shingle and clapboard construction that maintains the historical Cape Breton look. Designed and built by artists and native Canadians, the house was a labor of love that reflects their appreciation for the area, its culture, history and traditions.
Charming and comfortable, the open-plan interiors include lofty twenty two foot vaulted ceilings and tall windows that let in tons of natural light. The all-in-one living space includes a fireside seating and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen where you can cook up fresh salmon or trout from the nearby Margaree river or fresh caught lobster. Finished with raw, whitewashed pine beams and boards and a mix of rustic and modern decor and furnishings, the effect transports you to another time and place.
Created as a family retreat, the house sleeps four with a room designed specifically for kids. The large deck overlooking the ocean is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sunsets and night skies.
Around
Located at the eastern end of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island lies along the Gulf of St. Lawrence where the famous Cabot Trail roadway encircles the island. Passing through rugged coastline and forests and along the edges of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the road takes you through spectacular scenic beauty.
Less than 30 minutes north, the park has an extensive network of hiking trails including the Skyline Trail that overlooks the gulf, as well as dramatic waterfalls, rivers and highlands. Both the fabulous beach and bluffs of Whale Cove and the beaches and lighthouse of Margaree Harbor are within a few minutes drive, while the beach nearest the cottage is ideal for swimming in warm months.
Head south down the dramatically beautiful Broad Cove Road on the way to the town of Inverness, with it's great pubs and cafes as well as a local music and arts and crafts scene. With its mix of Celtic, Acadian and Native cultures, the island has a rich history and unique traditions with various music and cultural festivals throughout the year. A breeding ground for migratory whales, the area is also home to a diverse and abundant array of wildlife.
