Architect Yannis Kaklamanis Employs Traditional Cycladic Craftsmanship To Restore A Treasured Winery

These luxury villas in Santorini are a unique complex designed from an ancient winery, located just off the main square in Pyrgos. Carefully renovated with respect for Cycladic architectural traditions, we love the simple beauty derived from the elemental design and the handcrafted materials and techniques.

The buildings are designed in a variety of shapes based on either production or storage and were in various states of disrepair. Overseen by architect Yannis Kaklamanis, the restoration of the compound took years of meticulous research to adhere to, and respect, the historical significance of the town. Enlisting local craftsmen, each of the buildings was painstakingly restored with a deep understanding for traditional Santorini architecture using eco–friendly materials and handcrafted techniques.

The shared outdoor living areas are spacious and lavish with multiple verandas, lounge areas, and a protected courtyard along with a Jacuzzi and BBQ area.

The four distinct units can be rented individually or in two groups and there is also a public space with an extra full kitchen and a large dining area overlooking the pool.

Located beneath the remains of the Kasteli at the top of the hill, the Venetian and Byzantine influenced village of Pyrgos is perched at the highest point on the island with 360 degree views in all directions. A fortified town of narrow, winding streets and hidden passageways, it's a uniquely medieval and Cycladic settlement. The 17th century village of Megalochori, one of the most picturesque on Santorini with it’s narrow streets, iconic marble churches, historic mansions and traditional houses within a few minutes drive and is also known as one of the best wine regions on the island.

Just minutes from the captivating bays of the island and the port of Athinios, the villa is also a short drive from the capital of Fira. The old port town is one of the main draws with it’s iconic terraced complexes and stunning views and is a bustling center for the cruise ships and tourists that regularly descend here. The famed town of Oia at the northern most tip of the island is perched into the volcanic rock and is the spot to catch the sunsets. The best beaches of Kamari and Perivolos are within a few miles and don’t miss the boat tour of the volcano’s caldera and hot springs.
