A Guest House Among the Vines of La Consulta
This home sits within a landscape that serious winemakers have been mapping, calicata by calicata, for two decades: high altitude, strong diurnal swing, alluvial soils threaded with limestone. Host Ana arrived here not as a viticulturalist but as someone who understood that a room facing the Andes is its own form of brief.
The guest suite comprises a master bedroom with two single beds and an open kitchen-living room that doubles as secondary sleeping space, with a double bed and two further singles. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. Ana's interior design training is evident in the palette (warm, terra-influenced tones that reference the surrounding landscape without replicating it) and in the selection of textiles, which are tactile and locally sourced.
Four thousand Lombardy poplars line the farm lanes alongside rose bushes, a combination that produces, in late afternoon, a corridor of filtered light and scent. The organic vegetable garden and indigenous plant garden are accessible to guests. A wood-fired bread oven sits in the outdoor area, ready for the kind of cooking that takes most of the afternoon. The finca's pool is shared with the wider property.
What we love
Ninety hectares of Malbec vines and organic walnut groves at 1,200 metres, in the sub-region serious Uco Valley producers have been quietly fighting over for two decades. You wake up inside that landscape — not adjacent to it. Dinner can mean an afternoon at the clay oven, a bottle opened before the sun drops behind the Andes, and no particular reason to be anywhere else.
Layout
This vacation home for rent in La Consulta, Valle de Uco, Argentina sleeps up to four guests. It is a self-contained guest suite within a larger estate.
- The master bedroom has two single beds.
- The open-plan kitchen and living room accommodates a double bed and two additional single beds (suitable for a couple and children, or for four adults).
The suite has one bathroom. A private entrance connects directly to the outdoor grounds. The configuration works well for a small family or two couples sharing.
Experiences
On the estate: bicycle rides along poplar-lined farm lanes, grape and walnut harvesting in season, guided winemaking participation, cooking with the organic vegetable garden and wood-fired oven. Host Ana can coordinate wine tastings, yoga instruction, ceramic classes, and massage, all with advance notice.
Good to know
Access is via Route 40 and then 10 kilometers of paved road to the estate gate, and a car is essential for independent movement in the valley. The suite is part of a multi-dwelling property. Breakfast, laundry service, private chef, transport coordination, and market-shopping assistance are available on request. Housekeeper visits are scheduled per stay. The pool has no gate or lock. Pets are welcome with prior discussion.

Around
La Consulta sits in the southern portion of the Uco Valley, in the San Carlos department, in the shadow of the 5,830-metre Volcán San José. The sub-region is home to some of Mendoza's most serious viticulture: Zuccardi Valle de Uco, four-time winner of the World's Best Vineyard title and architect of a stone-and-concrete winery designed specifically to emerge from the landscape, is a short drive from the finca. The Piedra Infinita Cocina restaurant (four courses, regional produce, floor-to-ceiling Andean views) requires advance booking. Beyond wine, the Valle de Uco offers Andean trekking, river rafting on the Tunuyán, and the particular pleasure of a local market in a town that has been farming this valley since long before international investors arrived. A car is essential: distances between estates are significant, and public transport does not serve the winery roads.
