A Sleek Modernist Villa by Architect Alessandro Landi
Introducing the stark drama of Brutalism into a tropical context, architect Alessandro Landi of Landi Designs has captured and highlighted the warmth of the islands through sleek, contrasting style. Designed with board-formed textured concrete, massive expanses of glass, and warm wood accents, this holiday home in Turks and Caicos is modernism with a tropical twist.
Just steps from Grace Bay Beach and set within a private tropical garden, this holiday home in Turks and Caicos is a study in harmonious contrasts. Designed by architect Alessandro Landi, the home's outsized scale and graphite colored concrete construction stand out as well as blend in with the lush landscape.
The striking geometric forms are anchored to the site and feature sleek modernist lines and large expanses of glass that blur the lines of indoor and outdoor living. Textured concrete is also used extensively throughout the interiors with floors, walls and soaring 14-foot ceilings forming the shell of the home and over 6,000 square feet of living space, split between two rectangular volumes.
The expansive open-plan space includes an adjacent dining room (with seating for 10 guests) and a fully-equipped kitchen as well as two of the four ensuite bedrooms (with freestanding tubs and shower cabins). The garden wing located on the other side of the pool includes two additional ensuite bedrooms with wraparound decks.
The slideaway glass doors open the living spaces out to the lush gardens and L-shaped pool, and the spacious dining terraces (with seating for 12) and lounge areas shaded by brise soleil shades. The roof deck offers views across Grace Bay.
This is a chic getaway that immerses you into the island lifestyle centered on sea, sand and sun.
AROUND
The archipelago of islands southeast of the Bahamas that form the Turks & Caicos chain are some of the most pristine and sparsely populated tropical destinations within the Atlantic and home to some of the world's most spectacularly beautiful coral reefs.
At the chain's epicenter is Providenciales which has sprouted many world-class resorts while still preserving the local colors and flavors of the islands as well as the remnants of its colonial past. The collection of over 40 islands offer miles of barrier reefs along Providenciales north shore and a massive 2,000-mile-plus underwater wall off Grand Turk island, with dazzling scuba diving spots.
Grace Beach is within a two-minute walk from the villa with a smattering of great local bars and restaurants within a short stroll along the shore. Long Bay Beach, Leeward Beach, Sapodilla Beach /Chalk Sound and Malcolm Beach/Amanyara are all within a short drive. Venture out to the outlying islands to discover the unspoiled beauty and quiet enchantment of paradise.
LOCATION
Turks & Caicos, Caribbean (United Kingdom). Nearest airport: Providenciales International (PLS) (8km)
BEST TIME TO VISIT: The island of Providenciales features great weather year round. Peak season runs from December through May when the island is more populated, while the summer months from June to September (considered hurricane season although very rare) are quieter but still feature good weather.
