This coastal retreat distills the Danish summerhouse into a quiet, architectural experience rooted in the tactility of its seaside landscape. Designed by Copenhagen’s Norm Architects, the home reimagines the traditional Danish summerhouse as a minimalist sanctuary that breathes with its landscape. Its two elongated wings and central courtyard create a protective core that stands in dialogue with the sweeping views of the Kattegat sea just beyond its windows.

Inside, lye-treated Douglas fir planks by Dinesen flow across floors, walls and ceilings, grounded by handmade brick flooring, raw dolomite plaster from St. Leo, and a monolithic silver travertine island in the kitchen. Custom oak cabinetry and curated fixtures complete a space, which is defined by its authentic, touchable surfaces.

The home’s two wings separate communal and private zones, with bedrooms offering framed views of the landscape. A sunken living room opens directly onto the terrace, while a bathing suite with a freestanding tub and an outdoor shower further emphasize indoor-outdoor living.

A living sedum roof and cedar cladding allow the home's architecture to merge with the wind-shaped hills, and the central atrium acts as a sheltered garden, offering a contemplative contrast to the vast, open coastline just steps from the door.
