An Award-Winning Antebellum Era Home in Historic Nashville
A freshly remodeled, prize-winning, 1800s home in the heart of historic East Nashville, Tennessee, this light-filled residence’s renovation captured city design awards in 2024 and 2025 for its immaculate makeover. Ceilings soar 10 to 12 feet over white oak hardwood floors, sunshine pours in through arching windows, and the classic antebellum, brick-laid front porch with its spinning fans, traditional pillars and pretty plants was created for sitting a spell, with a glass of sweet tea or an ice-cold cocktail in hand.
Nashville Historic Brightened by Award-Winning Makeover
Tucked into one of Nashville’s oldest neighborhoods walking distance to downtown, this freshly remodeled home dates from the 1800s and offers city skyline views from its classic, pillar-lined front porch.
A bright modern oasis, the refurbished antebellum original’s ceilings soar 10 to 12 feet throughout, and oversized, arched windows flood the space with natural light, creating an open and airy atmosphere.
The kitchen is fully 21st century, with chefs’ quality appliances. Pristine white-oak flooring extends throughout all rooms, and there’s a California-living-inspired plunge pool, surrounded by tropical landscaping and punctuated by an outdoor lounge and barbecue area, with a deck out back and landscaped raised beds.
Three bedrooms include two doubles and a kids’ bunk room. The living room is anchored by a brick fireplace, plus there’s a fireplace in one bedroom. Two bathrooms combine antique and contemporary furnishings. An abundance of green found in house plants, tended beds and the manicured front lawn keeps the home feeling fresh and welcoming, with great historic bones.
Around
Located in East Nashville, with city skyline views from the front porch, the home stands in a historic neighborhood, one of the city’s oldest, walking distance to downtown and the 5 Points area. The neighborhood is leafy, tidy and affluent, with neighboring houses also historic, many renovated, with green yards and wide, street-facing porches.
The area is known for its wealth of restaurants, from fine dining to more casual, farm-to-table cafes, and a vibrant bar and nightlife scene, ranging from dive bars to stylish cocktail clubs. Quirky shops showcase local makers, and vintage shops dot the streets alongside coffee shops and music stores. Five Points is walking distance from the house, an alley of shops, galleries, event spaces and concert venues. East Nashville is also home to the Fatherland District, a low-key, offbeat zone for boutique shopping, breweries, cool record shops and bookstores.
Those seeking outdoor recreation can hit the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center and Greenway, a nearly 1,000-acre park area of paths for walking and running, children’s play zones, and a big pond along the Cumberland River.
