Julen is a  multidisciplinary artist whose projects are deeply identified with his origins and family history in the region, and Zermatt is home to an extensive portfolio of his commercial and residential creations. Formerly Julen’s private residence, the home has been host to legendary parties and is an integral part of the local lore.

Composed of epic proportions that still manage to be warm and inviting, the interiors take a familiar context and theme and give them a glamorous urban spin with a strong sense of place. Supported by seven soaring columns, the architectural attributes are bold and expressive and celebrate the scenery with transparent floor to ceiling walls of glass. Using some reclaimed and salvaged materials in a fusion of steel, textured concrete and wood, the effect is sleek and rugged with modern industrial overtones.

AROUND

This former farming town turned international ski and jet set destination and home to the towering and iconic Matterhorn, boasts over 200km of pistes on the Swiss side and is the country's most popular resort destination. Smaller and somewhat more down to earth than its flashy Alpine neighbors, the luxuries are more understated and geared towards outdoor recreation. The charming village center is blissfully free of cars and has that undeniable all season alpine appeal. The culinary capital of the Alps, there are world class restaurants and posh bars and cafes as well as an entertaining apres ski scene. It's a two-minute walk to the Omnia lift and under ten minutes to the best of the rest.

Zermatt, Switzerland. Nearest airport: Equidistant to both Geneva International and Malpensa International in Milan (2.5 hrs), there's also Sion private airport (75 mins).

BEST TIME TO VISIT: You'll want to snag your spot for world class winter skiing but there is enough snow through Spring and gorgeous alpine landscapes and recreation year round.
