In the Verdant Valley of Cantabria, an 18th-Century Casona
A young couple from Madrid, eager for a change of pace, decided to untether themselves from their careers in finance and approach the idea of running a boutique hotel. Their love of nature brought them to the mountains of Cantarian and the authentic village of Carmona, where they happened upon an old casona.
Following a restoration and redecoration that began in 1997 and continues to evolve to this day, they opened La Infinita Rural Boutique, a home with four different rooms to choose from. A beautiful stone facade, emblematic of traditional mountain architecture, invites you into a ground-floor common area filled with books, cozy nooks, a fireplace, and wood beam ceilings. There is also a little eating area with separate tables, perfect for enjoying coffee, orange juice and a book or a few emails.
Two of the rooms are on the first floor, the other two are on the second.
Room descriptions:
Room 1 is a Double room with a balcony located on the first floor, filled with light and bright furnishings.
Room 2 is a Double room with a balcony located on the first floor, with a small collection of art and design books.
Room 3 is a loft-style, rustic-chic, attic double room located on the second floor. It’s a moody and romantic space with vaulted ceilings, dark wood beams and a velvet armchair, perfect for curling up with a book.
Room 4 is an attic-style double room located on the second floor, with vaulted ceilings, dark wood beams and skylights with a small living area, plus a charming writer’s desk.
Outside, you will find a magical environment with gardens to relax and dream. La Infinita reconnects you with the simple life in a breathtaking valley, where pastoral sights and sounds will flood your senses.
Some mornings the hills are blanketed in fog, others you will hear the bells of the local cows as they saunter through town. Come wander the multiple paths surrounding you in this relaxed country environment.

THE NATURAL RICHES OF CANTABRIA
La Infinita lies just over a half hour from Cantabria's coast, with its multitude of good beaches and reefs; a popular surfing destination. Take a sunset walk through cobblestoned Comillas and see the boats, stroll the golden sand, or have a drink on one of the patios . The capital city of the Cantabria region and popular summer resort town of Santander is an hour north east and sits at the mouth of the bay along La Magdalena peninsula.
The Pas region of the Los Valles Pasiegos is made up of three adjacent valleys and mountain ranges crossed by the three rivers that give them their names: the Pisueña, Pas and Miera Rivers.
The industrial port city of Bilbao is a two-hour drive. Most famous for the stunning titanium-clad Frank Gehry–designed Guggenheim Museum, the city has emerged from its gritty working-class roots into a cultural hub for art, cuisine, and commerce.
Other interesting day trips include the El Soplao caves (12 km away), the fisherman’s village of San Vicente de la Barquera (30 km away), or the Alto Campoo ski resort (60 km away).
