Medieval Heights and Mid-Century Soul
Restored in 2025 by the founders of La Segreta, La Torre occupies a former defensive bastion in a quiet Umbrian hamlet of 500 residents. The apartment blends its history as a former town hall with a vibrant 1970s aesthetic. For families and design seekers, the interior offers tactile warmth through local antique market finds, while the service infrastructure—including a private chef and wine tastings from the owners' organic vineyard—ensures a seamless stay.
The building has lived many lives, evolving from a military fortification to a communal nursery school before its recent transformation. Its design language is a deliberate dialogue between eras: traditional terracotta floors and exposed wooden beams provide a historic canvas for 20th-century icons. Artichoke lamps and Flos globes illuminate a space characterized by curated vintage finds and contemporary Italian craftsmanship. The living area is anchored by a sculptural travertine fireplace and adorned with vibrant 1970s-style cement tiles. The kitchen is equipped with Smeg appliances and an espresso machine for slow mornings.
The private terrace serves as an elevated viewing gallery for the Umbrian landscape. Framed by a jasmine-covered pergola, the space includes a dining area for four and dedicated lounge chairs. From here, the silhouette of Todi is visible across the valley. It is an ideal setting for an evening aperitivo or the wine tastings organized through the estate’s organic vineyard, Agri Segretum.
What we love
We love how the original terracotta floors and travertine fireplace preserve the historic soul of the space while the 1970s Italian lighting keeps it feeling fresh. Living right on the village wall makes the whole hamlet feel like your own backyard, where you can wander to the piazza for a spritz and be back on your terrace in minutes. It’s the perfect spot to slow down and catch those big, sweeping Umbrian views.
