This is a property that reads the landscape. Stone warm in the morning light, olive trees, views that take their time arriving at the horizon. The interior follows the same logic: vaulted kitchen, archway framing open hills, a reading nook above the staircase.

The living room is arranged for slow mornings and unhurried evenings, with a television, a small library, and reliable internet. An upper gallery at the top of the staircase serves as a reading nook with a view over the home below. An office space doubles as a pet corner. The vaulted kitchen is generous and well equipped, with two large refrigerators, dishwasher, ovens, coffee machine, and a full range of cooking tools, plus a separate pantry and direct carport access housing the washing machine and dryer. Speakers run throughout the house. Underfloor heating and cooling operate year-round.

The infinity pool is saltwater and heated, set at a height that places the Umbrian hills at water level and lets Tuscany fill the far view, with Lake Trasimeno catching the light on clear days. The terrace steps directly from the kitchen, shaded by olive trees and furnished for outdoor dining and a barbecue. A tennis court sits on the grounds. Covered parking includes an EV charging point. For wider exploration, a vintage VW Golf is available to guests throughout their stay.

What we love

The infinity pool is the obvious draw, and yes—watching the Umbrian hills dissolve into Tuscany from saltwater at dusk is as good as it sounds. But what we keep coming back to is the VW Golf. There is something about a vintage car left in the carport, keys on the hook, that tells you everything about how a place has been thought through.

Layout

This vacation home for rent in Umbria's hills sleeps up to four guests across two private bedroom suites and two floors. The ground floor holds the vaulted kitchen-dining room with terrace access, the main living room with library and television, a guest bathroom with shower, an office and pet corner, and covered parking.

The upper floor contains two bedroom suites: Sylt and Capri, each named after a holiday escape and each fitted with a television, spacious en-suite bathroom, integrated desk, and coffee machine. The Capri suite additionally includes a private gym corner. A reading nook gallery overlooks the living space below.

Experiences

Guests can play on the on-site tennis court, swim in the saltwater infinity pool, and use the private gym corner in the Capri suite. The vintage VW Golf is available throughout the stay for self-guided exploration of local country roads, olive groves, and nearby hill towns.

The hills around La Torre belong to the quieter, less-trafficked interior of Umbria, a landscape of olive groves, woodland paths, and stone villages that rewards slow exploration. Lake Trasimeno, Italy's fourth-largest lake and a natural and cultural landmark of the region, is visible from the property and reachable for swimming or cycling its perimeter path. The Umbrian hill towns of Perugia, Assisi, Cortona and Orvieto sit within comfortable driving distance. The Tuscany border is close enough for a day trip.
