A Neo-Provençal Garden Home with Concierge Service
Le Clos d'Allegre sits on one hectare in La Colle-sur-Loup, the hills between Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Cagnes-sur-Mer, just 15 minutes from the Mediterranean coast. Built in the early 2000s as an homage to Provençal tradition, the home was thoroughly renovated in 2022 by Nice-based interior architects Liza Zermati and Cédric Pourcher with Studio Balagane, whose practice has worked across the Côte d'Azur since 2009. The 350m2 two-story villa sleeps 10 across five bedrooms, and opens onto a lush garden anchored by a pool and outdoor cooking zone.
Studio Balagane's vision was to restore the house's Provençal character without pastiche. The exterior lime finish and bold cornerstones were sourced from a nearby quarry, and the roof is local terracotta tile. Inside, the palette is drawn from the surrounding landscape: sand, pale earth, and deep maquis green runs through the home's linens, rattan, and wood furnishings. The home is structurally minimalist and organic in material, reading almost as a continuation of the landscape itself.
The two-story interior features a ground-floor living and dining area that opens directly to the garden and pool terrace. Four bedrooms are en suite, nd the fifth has direct garden access. Rattan, wood, and linen furnishings in sand and pale earth tones characterize the home. The fireplace makes the house a comfortable year-round proposition, and a laundry room is included for convenience.
The one-hectare garden features a pool with a sun-drenched wood deck, an outdoor cooking zone with a plancha, brazier, and pizza oven, an alfresco dining room, and a pergola lounge for the sunny hours. A boules court, trampoline, and ping-pong table offer plenty to fill an afternoon. The lot was once agricultural land known for its violet fields, and traces of that history remain in the garden plantings.
