A Norman Farmhouse, Reimagined
Once a working farm and dairy workshop, the home’s restoration was a passion project for its new custodians. They worked with local artisans to preserve its authenticity while modernizing its core. The goal was to use sustainable materials that felt true to Normandy, resulting in a sensitive blend of oak half-timbering, hemp-and-lime walls, and original brickwork.
Original features like the fireplace and stone floors are complemented by new zellige tiles and handwoven wooden blinds. Furnishings are a thoughtful collection of cherished family heirlooms and pieces from prestige brands, including linens from a Vosges-based maker.
Perched above rolling hills, the property’s standout feature is a raised terrace offering sweeping views of the Normandy countryside. It is an ideal spot for watching the sunrise or enjoying a glass of cider at sunset. Guests are welcome to wander the surrounding fruit orchards and, in season, pick apples, cherries, plums, and pears directly from the trees. The only neighbors are the local donkeys and cows.
What we love
Normandy is seeing a wave of renovation projects by creatives. This home has been a year-long renovation project by its owners, and we love how they kept the historical parts and the authenticity but updated it to modern standards. We also love the colors and the inviting atmosphere and having donkeys as neighbors.
