A Private Retreat for Renaissance Travelers
Understated elegance pervades at this transformed 19th-century noble palace, a temple of Italian design from the Renaissance to the contemporary. The effortlessly cool residence feels like a secret haven, an intimate club that welcomes nomadic insiders into its six, timelessly chic suites, each one individually curated and unique.
A private residential retreat at the heart of Rome’s historical city center, this once-aristocratic lodge has been fashionably updated for well-heeled, contemporary travelers. Redesigned in homage to four Renaissance era portraits by Piero del Pollaiolo that hang in the palace, the intimate property gets its name and design cues from the paintings’ graceful female subjects.
A subtle, sophisticated property, the overall ambiance of this small luxury hotel in Rome is serene, yet privileged—one part sensitively restored, easy-to-inhabit modern palace and one part cool, simply curated private clubhouse. Catering to the discreet and discerning, the suites are gentle and welcoming, decidedly more classic than hipster or trendy, with no place for the glossy or glaring. The property offers guests subdued elegance, a serene haven that’s very much in keeping with its muted, namesake portraits, Le Quattro Dame.
AROUND
Equidistant from Piazza Venezia and Piazza Navona, this small luxury hotel in Rome is marked only by a simple doorbell flanking its heavy wooden entry doors on the second story of a neoclassical palace. The building overlooks Chiesa de’ Gesù, a 16th-century church and the site of the Largo di Torre Argentina, where Julius Caesar met his death in 44 B.C. Set in the central Roman neighborhood of Pigna, the palace makes exploring Rome on foot easy. Cobbled streets zigzag under Baroque and Renaissance architecture, clad in photo-worthy weathered pastel hues typical of residential Rome. Local restaurants, old school trattorias, hip new cafes and small local shops and studios create the neighborhood backdrop, and not-to-be-missed historic sites including the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and the Campo de’ Fiori market square are all about five minutes’ walk from the residence. Other notable tourist destinations such as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and Trastevere part of town can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes, and the Colloseum and Vatican are a bit further, taking some 20 to 30 minutes to reach, walking.
