AROUND

A natural archipelago region, the islands of Grosseto province in Tuscany are equal parts heart-stopping natural beauty with the laid back luxuries Italians do so well. Porto Ercole is located on Monte Argentario, connected to the mainland via narrow sandbars through the town of Orbetello, stretching across a small strip of land in the middle of the lagoon and unspoiled marshlands, with sun drenched views of the Tyrrhenian. Its trio of 16th-century castles are considered some of the most prized fortifications of the Spanish empire, while nearby Pitigliano, features the remains of Etruscan ruins.

Both Giannutri and Giglio are within a short boat ride, and the gorgeous Uccellina National Park a bit further north is within a short reach. Characterized by flat plains, gentle hills and it's proximity to the sea, the Maremma area on the southern coast of Tuscany is an idyllic and quiet corner of Grosseto Province. A charming and rural vineyard dotted area, it's bordered by Monte Amiata to the east and the Tyrrhenian to the west.
