An Architect-Designed Apartment Tucked into the Jungle
This vacation home rental in Tulum is a study in sustainable simplicity without any compromise on design. Located in a small building surrounded by jungle, it was crafted using local materials, products and art, under the guidance of Guadalajara-based interior design studio B|Huber.
The world they created is modern and minimal, with white walls, a neutral color palette and concrete floors, warmed by wood furnishings, terracotta floor tiles and natural textiles. Exteriors are immersive, with expansive open terraces wrapped in lush vegetation, set to the melody of bird calls. The large rooftop pool makes the most of this dramatic setting, and there's also a plunge pool on the private terrace.
For travelers wanting to take advantage of all that the Riviera Maya has to offer, the apartment is close to the beach, and only five minutes by car from the famous archeological ruins and characterful downtown Tulum.
The apartment sleeps four guests in two bedrooms, with large terraces and a shared rooftop pool. An ideal vacation home rental in Tulum for a family or group of friends.
AROUND
The Riviera Maya has seen a large expansion in tourism in recent years, and Tulum's white sand beaches, turquoise waters and remarkable Mayan archeological ruins are a big part of the attraction. Luckily, with over one million acres of protected biosphere to explore in the UNESCO Sian Ka’an and Parque Nacional Tulum, there’s space to expand into.
The coastal resorts are bustling, but Tulum is nestled into the jungle along the highway and much more low key, with cheap and delicious eats and quieter streets away from the hustle.
Outside of the town, a visit to the region's famous cenotes (or water-filled sinkholes) is highly recommended. The towns of Valladolid, Merida Bacalar, Playa del Carmen and Akumal, as well as the ancient Maya ruins of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Ek Balam, Coba, Muyil, and Xel-Há are all within reach for day trips. Cozumel and Isla Mujeres are off the coast to the north close by. Cancún is the entry point for the area and is just over 90 minutes by car.
