Southern Luxe
A modern take on classic Hollywood Regency style, this vacation home rental in Tennessee, offers up colorful and glamorous interiors among the rustic Appalachian mountains outside of Chattanooga.
Designed by a Tennessee native and fine artist, the mid-century home has been transformed into a luxe residence full of color, texture, and photo-worthy design.
Located above the city on Lookout Mountain, the mid-century home is adjacent to thousands of acres of national parklands and forest preserves, with winter views of the downtown lights.
The light-filled open living space is anchored by an old stone fireplace that tells the story of its origins as a rustic retreat. Now, with an eye-catching array a plush furnishings and decor, saturated color blocking, and a hand-painted gold accent wall, the home is invitingly sophisticated.
The sunroom is around the corner from the stone fireplace (now electric) in the living room and opens up to the back deck which also connects to an exterior door to the master bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dining nook and comfortable bench seating, and extra chairs with room for six. There's a double master bedroom and a separate bathroom with a soaker tub and separate shower. The second double bedroom has a sliding door that opens to its own little deck that leads to the backyard, and the third bedroom comes with a twin bed plus trundle bed and office space facing lovely views.
Outside surrounded by stone walls built in the 1930s, there is a large fire pit for bonfires and a back deck that leads to a terraced garden with a Rock City-worthy boulder and twinkling city views.
CHATTANOOGA
Bordering an expansive national park on the famous Lookout Mountain, there are thousands of acres of preserved land and hiking trails just outside the door. Catch the Incline Railway that winds up the mountain to the spectacular Ruby Falls. The country's tallest and deepest underground waterfall, it's part of a fascinating underground cave system and ancient geological formations that include the famous Rock City Gardens.
Downtown Chattanooga is just a ten-minute drive down the mountain, providing the best of both worlds. Set among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains along the Tennessee River, the city has evolved from just a major industrial railway hub into a vibrant mix of historic Americana and a modern southern culture center. The downtown area features a thriving historic district with an excellent foodie scene and lots of walkable spaces to explore.
Check out the Bluff View Arts District, a family-owned and operated neighborhood of historic buildings, gardens, and plazas with breathtaking views of the city and the river below.
