With its classic riad layout, wooden moucharabia and hand-carved ceilings, plus an oasis courtyard, this six-bedroom inn a few minutes from Place des Épices combines tradition with contemporary design. Milanese chandeliers by AntiMeridiam Design create a statement entrance, and clean-lined contemporary furnishings thoughtfully complement the classic medina residence. Deluxe Rooms: A room for two with direct patio access. One deluxe features handcrafted original ceilings and distinctive colored glass windows. The other features an oversized, glass walled, in-room shower stall.

Junior Suites: One suite immerses you in a sea of green, featuring a large moucharabieh wood window overlooking the pool. It’s a convertible space that can be made into two single beds or added to for a triple room. Another double suite for two offers a stand-out zellij-tiled shower and an outdoor sitting area.

Suites: Infused with traditional touches, one suite, reached via private staircase, features direct terrace access, a living room area lit by a traditional chandelier, and space for two or three. Another suite features a glass ceiling—a “Moroccan styled loft”—with a double bed, bright natural light, and the possibility of adding a twin bed for families.

Located in the Rahba Lakdima, minutes from the Place des Épices, the small hotel stands at the heart of Marrakech’s ancient medina. Its roof deck overlooks the Koutoubia minaret, and the UNESCO World Heritage site, Jemaa El Fna Square, is nearby.

Marrakech, Morocco’s busy, bazaar-filled “red city,” was an imperial city. Its heart, the ancient medina, is celebrated as a labyrinth of streets and alleys made up of shops and souks selling textiles, jewelry, spices and leather goods. Street performers add to the legendary scene, and the city’s maze-like center also bursts with teahouses and cafes, all bordered by glinting minarets, mosques, and soaring date palms.

On the calmer side, Marrakech is also known for its landscape architecture, notable gardens such as Yves Saint Laurent’s famed Jardin Majorelle. Monuments include the city’s Saadian tombs, Bahia Palace and dozens of squares where artisans offer spices, rugs, objets, foods and textiles. Outdoor outings popular nearby include camel and four-wheeler tours in the ochre sands of the Desert d’Agafay, an atmospheric, arid stretch that extends from about 35 kilometers south of Marrakech all the way to the base of the Atlas Mountains.
