A Design Loft for Two in Paris' 1er Arrondissement
Set on the third floor of a historic Parisian building, this one-bedroom apartment is precisely one minute's walk from the Palais Royal—a 17th-century palace whose arcaded galleries have been a haunt of poets, politicians, and flaneurs since Cardinal Richelieu first commissioned them in 1633. Recently renovated, the apartment opens onto a quiet, paved courtyard and connects guests directly to the cultural density of the 1st arrondissement. A premium concierge agency manages arrivals and departures personally. The Louvre is a five-minute walk. The metro is three.
The living space is organised around a sofa and coffee table, with a dining area. There is an open kitchen and a dedicated workspace. The Palais Royal garden—a walled, tree-lined rectangle of gravel paths, fountains, and arcaded galleries—is a 60-second walk and functions as a magnificent extension of the living room: free to enter, open daily, and considerably less crowded than the Tuileries to the south.
What we love
The Louvre des Antiquaires is at 2 Place du Palais Royal—which is essentially on your doorstep—and spending a morning browsing 250 dealers of antique furniture, rare books, and 18th-century objects before walking back to make coffee is a very particular kind of Paris morning that most visitors never get to have. We love that the apartment itself gets the design brief right: clean lines, considered proportions, and a record player that tells you the owner actually thought about how people spend an evening in here. And the Palais Royal garden as your default outdoor space rather than a tourist attraction you have to visit? That never gets old.
Layout
This vacation home for rent in Paris' 1er arrondissement sleeps up to two guests. The apartment is arranged across a single level on the third floor. The entrance leads into the open-plan living and dining area, which flows directly into the kitchen. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and walk-in wardrobe, plus an en-suite bathroom fitted with a sink and shower. A separate toilet completes the plan. The building is accessed via stairs. There is no lift.

Around
The 1er arrondissement is Paris at its most layered: medieval street plans beneath Haussmann facades, government ministries occupying 17th-century palaces, and boutiques sharing arcades with constitutional councils. The Louvre is five minutes on foot, with the Musée d'Orsay and the Centre Pompidou both 15 minutes. Place Vendôme, the 18th-century octagonal square designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, is five to 10 minutes, as are the Tuileries Garden and the Seine. The Palais Royal–Musée du Louvre metro station (lines 1 and 7) is four minutes, and Pyramides (lines 7 and 14) is three. No car is needed or advisable here.
