An 1832 Neoclassical Paradise and a Boating Family’s Legacy
Long a gathering place for the arts and intellectual vanguard, this stunning Neoclassical home is owned by a local family who once owned the first steamship company in Greece. It has stayed in the family – an eclectic mix of artists – for six generations.
It is now your turn to experience the beauty of a home that has been studied by architecture students of foreign universities; its grandeur of scale, dramatic columns and simplicity of form. Interiors are splashed with opulent furnishings, gilt and framed vintage photos. Tall windows offer different views of the sea, island and courtyard, with its ancient pines, olive trees and produce garden.
The imposing, two-story Psacharopoulos Residence has five bedrooms and two bathrooms plus one WC, and can accommodate one to two families or a large party of 8-9 people. The kitchen spills out onto a sun-drenched terrace with a stone table and chairs that overlook the white-washed homes of the surrounding village and soaring mountains behind them. Set in a multi-level garden, the house offers various spots for coffee, small gatherings, and is a perfect place for relaxation.
The Wine Press next door is a former winery, lovingly restored with a country-rustic vibe. Bright, open and draped with eye-popping bougainvilleas. On the ground floor, a 30-square meter space holds a double bed and is also equipped with a kitchen and dining room. A child's cot is available upon request. A wooden ladder leads to a loft with two additional sleep spaces as two singles or a double bed. This dwelling can accommodate 2 to 4 people. It has a view of the entire island and the sea and a garden with tall pine trees.
The Residence and The Wine Press are two separate, self-catered houses and can be rented together or independently.
If you fancy a walk in nature, there are many trails that start from around the homes, leading you into stunning landscapes.

Around
From the property, it is only a five-minute walk through charming alleys to Artemonas square and its many cafés and tavernas. According to local legend, the village is where the goddess Artemis was worshipped.
Sifnos is located in the center of the Cycladic chain of islands, between Serifos and Milos, and has a reputation for drawing foodies, with its fresh-caught seafood and chickpea-laden casseroles, artists and the literati.
The island’s main township, Apollonia, is ten minutes away on foot and less than a kilometer by car. The beaches – celebrated for their crystal blue waters – of Sifnos, such as Platys Yalos, Chrysopigi, Vathy and Faros, are only a 15-minute drive.
Traditional festivals and rituals take place year-round and are often accompanied by food and Sifnos island music.
