A Private Estate near Todos Santos with Wellness Spaces That Open to Desert and Mountain Views

Rancho Cuatro Patas is a 22-acre ranch near El Pescadero, in the greater Todos Santos area of Baja California Sur, built by owner Elizabeth Rogers with interior designer Lucie Klimes and landscape designer Fiore Perttula. Two casas and four casitas ring a communal core of pool, spa, gym, and outdoor kitchen. The interior is a collection: Frank Gehry bentwood chairs, Ann Demeulemeester lighting, mid-century pieces from Mexico City, and ceramics gathered from Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Puebla, set against tiles made by artisans in Todos Santos. The Sierra de la Laguna rises behind the property. San Pedrito beach is five minutes down the road.

Rogers spent years assembling this estate. The buildings are plastered and low, arranged so the six lodgings face inward onto gardens, water, and a thatched palapa. Folk-art santos, black barro from Oaxaca, and a red-tiled bar sit beside modern chairs.

Inside, Frank Gehry's cross-woven bentwood armchairs sit in a bare, top-lit hall, and Ann Demeulemeester's porcelain-ribbon lighting hangs against ochre plaster. Rugs by Emma Boomkamp ground the living rooms, mid-century pieces from Mexico City fill the casas, and ceramics from Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Puebla line the shelves. The walls are troweled plaster, the floors are polished concrete, and the window frames are black steel.

The communal heart is a 75-foot pool with a raised jacuzzi, edged in pink brick and shaded by a thatched palapa lounge. A vine-covered pergola covers a long dining table beside a wood-fired oven and a fire pit. Past the gardens of bougainvillea and blue fan palms you'll find a gym, sauna, cold plunge, and a boules pit. Two horses graze the 22-acre grounds, and a helipad allows private arrivals.

Layout

This vacation home for rent in El Pescadero sleeps up to 18 guests. The estate holds nine bedrooms and 13 bathrooms across two casas and four casitas. Casa Two is the largest, with four bedrooms, a TV room, kitchen, and laundry. Casa One is a private one-bedroom with its own den and kitchen. The four casitas each stand alone in the gardens. Beds are a mix of kings and queens, with one single in a casita loft.

The concierge arranges sunset horseback rides, surf sessions at San Pedrito, boat trips, sport fishing, and seasonal whale watching. On-site there is a private chef, personal training, yoga, and spa massage. A guided Temescal ritual with Maria at Dos Marías, plus ATV and golf-cart rentals, can be booked ahead.

Good to know

Rancho Cuatro Patas books as a whole estate for up to 18 guests, or as Casa Two alone, which sleeps eight. A booking comes staffed with an on-site manager, chef, and housekeeping, and the ranch is family- and pet-friendly. Provisioning, spa treatments, boating, fishing, surfing, ATV and golf-cart use, and other activities can be arranged by the concierge ahead of time at additional cost. Weddings and events are welcome on request.

Around

El Pescadero is the quieter, more agricultural neighbor to Todos Santos, the pueblo mágico 20 minutes north, known for its galleries and farm-to-table kitchens. The ranch sits among palm groves and cultivated fields, with the Sierra de la Laguna behind it and the Pacific in view. San Pedrito, one of the area's best surf breaks, is five minutes down the road and visible from the property. Cerritos beach and its surf schools lie a little farther south. In El Pescadero itself, Hierbabuena serves lunch from its own organic garden. Punta Lobos and its fishing beach sit north toward Todos Santos.
