Architect Pedro Ferreira Pinto Highlights the Alentejo's Coastal Beauty
Architect Pedro Ferreira Pinto designed this home to merge with the landscape. It's a striking modern form of concrete and glass that feels both raw and refined. Owned by a Lisbon-based family, it serves as their personal "art project" and second home, blending minimalist architecture with the wild, natural paradise of the sand dunes.
Polished concrete floors, which are heated, run throughout the interiors, complementing the extensive glass walls. The living area is centered around a suspended fireplace, perfect for cooler seasons. The decor is a curated collection of mid-century modern classics, chosen by the owners to create a space that is both personal and stylish.
This spacious (265 square meter), one-story property can easily accommodate six people in one master suite, two double bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The living room alone measures 60 square meters and boasts a flat-screen television and suspended fireplace. Its kitchen is fully equipped and built around a central cooking island. An interior patio offers a private space for relaxation, while the main living area's glass walls open onto a front deck, connecting the indoors with the surrounding pine-covered dunes.
The home's design sculpts the land into dunes, integrating the garden with the wild territory using local, sustainable plants. The primary outdoor area is the private rooftop terrace, finished in pine wood. It features a heated, aquabright-finished concrete pool, positioned for privacy and offering views over green fields to the Arrábida mountains. It’s an ideal spot to watch the sunset.
