We like the fresh, artistic and unexpected renovation of this old farm building. Bright, creative and contemporary, we have a hard time imagining how the livestock once called it home!

A delightful sun-filled and highly original conversion of what was once a rustic and likely gamey old livestock building, this two-bedroom, two-bath detached home is stylish and cozy with a bit of an artistic edge. Created and designed by artist-makers Carl and Peet Haan who live in the nearby farmhouse, the cottage is now a chic little country getaway that offers a unique vacation option near the coast in Devon.

Located on what was once a vast farm in the rural countryside, this contemporary and highly original home offers a stylish and cozy retreat with subtle modern conveniences and where every item has been carefully chosen or handcrafted to complement the architecture and structural characteristics of the old barn. Many of the furnishings and art pieces were designed and contributed by the owners and friends, and were meant to be shared with guests. These include carved wooden stools, quirky light shades, an oak and perspex chandelier, and colorful wall hangings

The open-plan living and dining area enjoy a fireside placement off the fully-equipped modern kitchen with views over the orchard, gardens and outdoor patio. With two compact and cozy bedrooms, the house sleeps up to four and is an ideal family escape in the quiet serenity of the countryside.

AROUND

The area around and between Devon and Cornwall is famous for its lovely natural beauty and hundreds of miles of wild coastal landscape. Walk straight out from the house to the River Avon, drive 25 minutes to Dartmoor, or wander down to the nearby garden center for cream tea. Just a 15-minute walk from Loddiswell village in the center of South Hams, you will also have access to the stunning coastline with its famous South West Coast Path, beautiful secluded beaches and nearby Dartmoor along with numerous trails, green lanes and Avon River walks just outside your door.

Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Totnes are within a short drive and are among the many charming villages nearby. The internationally recognised Dartington Estate is within 30 minutes. Plymouth is under an hour west.
