An Architect-Designed Mountain Retreat for Two in South Tyrol
With its large living and dining area and its glass-enclosed bedroom, this multi-layered, poetically intimate space brings the urban loft concept to the South Tyrolean mountains. Architect Thomas Kienzl and interior designer Hannes Peer teamed up to create an intimate two-person space that reveals South Tyrolean roots in its use of rich nutwood and gneiss and panoramic alpine views.
The loft has a full kitchen, generous and artful living/dining area, and a cozy private panorama, and it benefits from the neighboring Pergola Residence’s spa, gym, outdoor pool.
Breakfast is offered in-loft (a croissant or bread roll delivery), and a curated selection of breakfast items is available in our in-house shop, the Bottega. The outdoor pool offers vast valley and mountain views with outdoor relaxation, poolside yoga, and Pilates in season. And the property’s indoor pool, Finnish sauna, steam bath and spa are also open for body treatments and massage, and the valley-view fitness room is outfitted with a WaterRower and Nohrd equipment, with a personal trainer available.
The Pergola Residence has an on-site lounge for aperitif or digestif hours or anytime, really. The in-house bottega offers local products from South Tyrolean jams to Italian oils and pastas and cheeses from regional producers. A 16th-century, vaulted wine cellar presents a curated section of local vintages and private label wines.
Around
The loft is surrounded by vineyards and apple orchards and flanked by alpine valleys and sharp mountains of the Merano Valley in the Dolomites.
Algund (also known as Lagundo) is a South Tyrolean/northern Italian commune some 25 kilometers northwest of Bolzano, in a region known for its spa resorts and towering surrounding mountains. The region is home to vintners producing excellent wines, among them the light red Meranese di collina, and local brews and ciders, too. Merano’s spa resorts are world class, and the city hosts annual wine and jazz festivals and a glittering Christmas Market.
The region is famed for its dramatic landscapes, making it a great destination for outdoor activities. Merano 2000 is the local ski resort that doubles as a summer adventure playground, offering hiking, mountain climbing, tobogganing and paragliding.
