A Cobbled Lane Cottage For Two
This cottage celebrates the historic fabric of St Ives’ old fishing quarter, known as ‘Downalong’. The design brief was to create a tranquil, self-contained world within the walls of a traditional granite building. Belle and Skye achieved this by maximizing light and space, using a clean, open layout on the ground floor and a dramatic vaulted ceiling in the upstairs bedroom to create a surprising sense of volume. The ground floor living area is an all-in-one space for cooking, dining, and relaxing. Upstairs, the bedroom is a peaceful sanctuary defined by its pitched ceiling.
To the back of the cottage, a small seating nook is carved out from the cobbled terrace. This intimate space, furnished with a small bench, provides a lovely spot to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
What we love
Great location, charming cottage. We love the staircase with the net instead of a handrail, the breakfast nook table and corner, the inspiring design and storage solutions in that small space (bathroom and kitchen) and the photo art.
Layout
The cottage is arranged over two floors and is designed for two guests. The ground level features an open-plan layout that combines the kitchen, a small dining area, and a comfortable living space. A staircase leads to the first floor, which is entirely dedicated to the master suite. This includes a bedroom with a king-sized bed, an vaulted ceiling, and a private en-suite bathroom.
Good to know
This is a traditional, compact cottage with an internal staircase connecting its two floors. It has private street parking.
