Architect Arnold Dransfeld Uses All-Natural Materials in Subtle, Elegant Gestures
Designed and completed in 2019 by architect Arnold Dransfeld, this holiday home in Germany demonstrates Dransfield's understated approach to eco-construction, with a straightforward build that responds to its environment, enhancing indoor living, while engaging with the land.
Working in collaboration with interiors designer Meyer+Harre, the home's use of natural materials in wood, clay and hemp, work with a subtle uniform gesture to produce elegant, multifaceted spaces that quiet down and simplify everything.
The house is also designed so that it can be used as a photo studio, with professional flash systems and interchangeable backgrounds that work with the expanses of glass to harness the daylight.
Vacation rental or backdrop for seminars, workshops or your next shoot, this home in Brandenburg's lake district is a stylish and versatile escape.

Set within a sleepy corner of Brandenburg, surrounded by meadows and wildlands, this holiday home for rent in Germany was designed as an eco-conscious hideaway within the unspoiled landscape.
The open plan design brings together the social spaces, connecting the living, kitchen and dining areas at its center with a warming pellet stove, and floor to ceiling glass and clerestory windows that send your eye out to nature.
The two double bedrooms are placed along the perimeter and can be separated by sliding doors, while the upper sleeping loft allows for night sky stargazing and views down into the living area, making for a fun and irresistible hideaway for kids.
Dominated by Dransfield's use of timber throughout, the home exudes a warmth that only wood can impart.
This natural ambience opens out to the south-facing terrace and the wild, uncultivated gardens, with a BBQ and free-form areas to bask in nature.
