Your Own Private Nature Reserve in Namibia
Situated in a remote, untamed corner of Southern Namibia, and accessed via private air charter, the Sandfontein Nature Reserve is offered on an exclusive-use basis for up to eight guests, with the rental of this villa. The villa is serviced by the expert Sandfontein Lodge staff and offers panoramic views, a 15-meter-pool, and outdoor adventure guides, for a menu of one-of-a-kind experiences within a pristine Namibian wilderness along the Orange River, where animals outnumber guests 300 to one.
A Namibian Nature Reserve for Your Exclusive Enjoyment
With nearly 100,000 hectares of untouched wilderness along the remote Orange River, reached by private charter from several of Namibia’s international airports, this secluded villa delivers 360-degree panoramas from its hilltop location. The home is fully provisioned and serviced by the Sandfontein Lodge team, and sleeps eight guests in four bedrooms located around a communal living space. It has an interactive kitchen and open-plan living area that leads to an expansive outdoor space with a private, 15-meter pool and fire pit.
The villa's unexaggerated, natural décor style favors textural linens and natural fibers in soft shades of sand and earth, accented by local art and handcrafts. Two bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms with a pair of vanities and rain showers, and the two others share a bath with the same amenities.
Outdoors, the pool is surrounded by loungers, and there’s a fire pit for evenings under the stars. More than just a home rental, a reservation at the villa offers a vast, pristine wilderness for your private exploration. The Nature Reserve has been verified as a Quiet Parks International location, offering serenity and seclusion in an ecologically important stretch of land along the Orange River.
Experiences
Guests of the reserve experience more than just a safari, benefitting from exclusive use of the entire, 97,000-hectare reserve. Staff offer bespoke guided experiences, from guided hikes to wildlife tracking to kayaking along the Orange River. Other staff-led excursions include wild camping and star gazing under the darkest of night skies. The nature reserve is dotted with ancient battlefields that can be visited, and geological wonders as well. And with an animal to human ratio of 300 to one, guests are ensured wildlife sightings on guided game drives, night drives for nocturnal species sighting, photo safaris and “walk and stalk” tracking adventures. Guests can witness majestic creatures including oryx, Hermann’s Mountain zebra, giraffe, jackal and eland as the terrain evolves from grassland savannas to dramatic red-tinged rugged mountaintops. The Orange River’s banks extend for 25 kilometers along the edge of the reserve, for kayaking, swimming, fishing, or wildlife watching, with the river area a vital habitat for wetland birds and unique plant species as well.
Around
The Sandfontein Nature Reserve covers a vast swath of ecologically important land that hugs the banks of the Orange River, surrounded by red-hued mountains, in a remote section of Namibia. The reserve is served by a private air strip, and conservation and environmental stewardship at the Reserve guarantee that the pristine wilderness will be safeguarded. The area is verified by Quiet Parks International and certified as a Quiet Stay, and the entire operation is powered by solar energy to maintain the reserve’s silence and serenity. Organic fruits and vegetables are grown in on-site gardens along the river, and the property’s tagline is “Find yourself in the middle of nowhere,” a particularly apt description.
Due to its hilltop location within the reserve, the Lost Poet Villa offers 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. The Sandfontein Reserve's Lodge is five kilometers from the villa.
