In the 1960s, owner Alex’s dad studied forestry in Montana and skied Whitefish resort. Today, The Nooq lies just a few yards away from those storied slopes.

Built from scratch in the vision of Alex (a revered nature photographer) and his wife Andrea (also a photographer – the pair met while in university in Quebec City), the home is framed with cathedral windows that fill its spaces with natural light. Beloved for its Scandinavian aesthetic that includes a grand FireOrb fireplace, The Nooq has been written about on Dwell and ArchDaily, and has appeared in Google Nest commercials.

The kitchen serves as a giant gathering space, while the bedrooms mimic the frozen landscape in their peacefulness and simplicity. Every design element demonstrates careful consideration by the couple – from the Portland-based Schoolhouse Electric lights and the bathroom tiles are matched to the trees, skies and snow.
