A Slow-Living Retreat Nestled into a Regenerative Tropical Food Forest

Located in the quiet village of Beze, just west of Nashik’s viticultural hub, The Open House is an artfully designed slow-living retreat. It's also the passion project of a dynamic local couple—Parth, an engineer and brewer, and Asmita, the architect responsible for the structure's airy, pavilion-style design.

Set within the one-acre Saukhya Farm, the home is surrounded by a thriving permaculture food forest, cultivated to restore the land’s ecological balance. It offers a slow-living experience where the luxury lies in nature, natural farming, home-cooked meals prepared by the host’s mother, and the architectural intent to frame the landscape.

What we love

We love how this property wasn't just built, but that it was created during lockdown by a brewer and an architect who clearly just wanted to be closer to nature. The fragmented layout forces you to walk through the garden and catch a breeze just to get from your bed to your morning coffee. A team favorite is the swing on the porch overlooking the pool, garden and mountain views.

Layout

The Open House features three distinct spaces: the main living block and two bedroom blocks, all connected by a central verandah. It sleeps up to 10 guests.

Central Verandah: This multipurpose open space is for guests to gather in. Sunset views are a highlight of the property.

Living Block: A dynamic living room with a well-stocked bookshelf, comfortable lounge seating for about 10 guests, and an eight-seater dining table that opens into the kitchen, it also features a very comfortable sofa bed that can sleep two. A dedicated powder area and powder bathroom make this block function as a separate room if needed.

Master Bedroom: This has a king-sized bed, with an additional cot available if needed.

Loft Bedroom: This is a double-height bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a dedicated sleeping loft for two floor mattresses. An additional cot can be added if needed.

Bedroom Bathrooms: Each bedroom has a spacious en-suite bathroom with integrated green landscaped pockets.

Experiences

Home-cooked meals are prepared by the property's caretakers, using ingredients often harvested minutes before cooking from the surrounding food forest. (Please let hosts know any meal preferences at least two days before arrival.)

Guests receive a guidebook to the property and the region. The hosts, with their background in brewing and farming, offer a unique perspective on the local terroir.

Good to know

Guests are asked to respect the tranquility and local ecosystem. A car is recommended for reaching the farm and exploring the wider Nashik region.

Beze is strategically positioned to offer both seclusion and access. The farm sits near the backwaters of the Gautami Godavari Dam, offering serene water views and walks. The spiritual center of Trimbakeshwar, home to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is a 20-minute drive away. For oenophiles, the famous Sula Vineyards and York Winery are approximately 25 minutes by car, allowing guests to explore Nashik’s wine capital status before retreating to the quiet of the farm. For outdoor enthusiasts, the challenging trek to Brahmagiri is also within easy reach.
