A Striking Glass Sanctuary in the Catskills
On 400 rolling acres crossed by rivers and thick with dense woods and wetlands, this 8,000-square-foot structure by renowned architect Thomas Phifer crowns a hilltop, serving as a glass enclosed, modern sanctuary with the Catskill Mountains as backdrop and the Hudson Valley spreading lushly all around.
A Modern Architectural Gem Outside Hudson, New York
Architect Thomas Phifer and Partners designed this starkly modern residential retreat to be a sanctuary for connecting deeply with oneself, and nourishing mind, body, and spirit.
The property is made up of a main house and guest house. The main house has seven bedrooms and nine beds. The two-bedroom guest house has six beds. There are 9.5 bathrooms across the two properties.
The generous glass pavilions also include a large barn space of art studios, plus an indoor pool, sauna, chef’s kitchen, and yoga studio in its striking architectural embrace.
Its large, glass-enclosed living area with a wet bar and fireplace, also features an office space, a theater room and a movement room. It has both indoor and outdoor swimming pools (indoor is salt-filtered, and outdoor is open June to October), as well as a dry sauna and sprawling lawns for intense relaxation.
The property sits on 400 private acres crossed by lawns, rivers, forests, ponds and meadows. It is also available to book as two separate units, the larger True North Home (here) and the smaller True North Modern Glass House (here).
Experiences
Guests can enjoy a full selection of services including yoga, massage, acupuncture, breathwork, garden tours, sound baths, natural dye workshops, and private chef meals.
Around
Located 15 minutes by car from the vibrant arts community of Hudson, a charming Upstate town along the Hudson River, only two hours by train from Manhattan. The town has plenty to occupy visitors, including restaurants, galleries, spas, yoga and pilates centers, mindfulness and meditation centers, an Opera House, and the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts.
The Taconic Parkway offers easy access for drives to NYC as well as Albany and Boston, and the region offers high-quality food and culture, with classic Upstate outdoor recreation opportunities. The ski slopes of Windham, Hunter, MA, and New England are easily reached as day outings, and the residence itself was created for creativity and transformation on site. The property is located on the ancestral homelands and traditional territories of the Mohican, Mohawk and Ramapough Munsee Lenape peoples, and the residence works to revere, acknowledge, and steward its place on First Nations’ lands. The property serves as a hub for visionaries and luminaries and an incubator for creatives who facilitate experiences that connect individuals to the Earth.
