Stylish Trulli with a Nomad Heart
The synthesis of multiple creative visions, this classic of rural Puglian architecture has been reborn as a luxurious retreat with a nomadic, boho heart. Sleek and stylish, it features old stones and the region’s iconic cones rebuilt and realigned, creating a light-filled, timeless, getaway full of Mediterranean spirit and romance.
A traditional Puglian trulli home reborn at the hands of innovative architects and designers, this restored rural structure now stands as a luxury villa for rent in Italy with a wild, bohemian heart. The home’s historic bones remain at the core of its redesign, with many original details painstakingly rebuilt, including the stacked stone roofs of the ancient conical structures. Local stone and lime were used throughout in the renovations and additions, and thoughtful new interior and exterior lighting highlights the home’s original architecture and updates it with elegance.
Interior walls are whitewashed and smoothed, with whimsically arching nichos and ample curving doorways preserved as nods to the structure’s past charms. Wood and straw serve as the primary interior décor materials, added as accents to the villa’s bleached stone floors, breezy textiles and casual bed linens, all in soothing shades of bone and beige. Door and window frames, the home’s compact galley kitchen, and most of the fixtures and hardware throughout are dark ebony, contrasting boldly against the white walls and pale décor palette. The house is romantic and cozy, offering two double bedrooms with en-suite baths, plus an added bathroom outdoors serving the infinity pool.
Outside, the pool deck is set with wide sun beds and built-in sofa seating, and easy chaise loungers. The yard is enclosed behind an sturdy stone wall, beautifully restored like new. Cypress, cacti, and twisting olives are dotted across the garden, and a spacious outdoor dining and cooking area features a long stone prep counter and wood-fired barbecue adjacent to a generous dining table.
