The Trulli of Puglia
Located down a rustic farm road in the hills of Ostuni in the Puglia region, this traditional trullo has been beautifully and thoughtfully restored with a careful attention to its historic authenticity and detail. Built over one hundred years ago, the structure is one of many unique to the region and is a faithful example of the authentic construction and prehistoric building techniques throughout the area.
Originally used as a temporary shelter, the structure's conical shapes and arched stone interiors were carefully preserved and restored by a Milanese architect whose love for Puglia and respect for its ancient forms, colors and original materials is well represented here. Constructed using locally sourced white-rosy limestone, the home has been brought back to life in all of its striking beauty.
The cozy living-room is placed within the heart of the ancient lamia, with an old stone fireplace and lovely views of the pool and gardens and the countryside in the distance. There's a fully equipped kitchen with seating for four inside and a lovely area under the olive trees for dining al fresco.
The interiors of the three bedrooms are a mix of sophistication and rustic character with tastefully selected detail, decor and furnishings that preserve the simple and authentic spirit of the place. Two of the three charming en suite bedrooms reside within the main part of the Trullo, and each have independent access to the garden with rooms for six guests.
The grounds include an infinity pool and lounge areas set within native Mediterranean gardens and the spacious rooftop terrace overlooks the countryside of olive trees and oak forests providing the perfect spot to enjoy an aperitif at sunset.
One of the finest examples of Italian folk architecture, the trullo is a unique and charming structure and this one will make you feel right at home.
NEW FOR 2023: Trullo delle Rose is a smaller unit about 20 meters from the main trullo that's perfect for a couple or family with one child. It has one bedroom and an alcove with a single bed, as well as a living room, kitchen and bathroom. It has its own garden with barbecue and access to the shared pool. It can be rented in addition to the main house, or as a separate unit.
