This newly-built villa in Morocco blends the classicism of a traditional riad with modern refinements in a secluded oasis of private gardens just outside of Essaouira. Configured on a large vertical two-story footprint, the rooms are airy and bright with soaring ceilings, cool concrete and stone, and a lush but tranquil color palette. The ground-floor living areas and kitchen are arranged around the cool interior courtyard with sitting areas and fountains and open out to the terraces and gardens on the opposite side.

There are six spacious ensuite bedrooms, all overlooking the surrounding countryside, one with a private ground floor terrace, and one with a balcony with room for up to 14 guests. The gardens and pool side terrace allows for sunbathing, lounging and great sky view dining. Fresh, bright and stylish, this home has undergone a subtle but chic transformation that delivers the best of contemporary and traditional style.

AROUND

Located within a few hours of Marrakech, Essaouira is southern Morocco’s legendary beach town. Unlike the big city, Essaouira is laid-back and timeless with sandy-colored ramparts, whitewashed avenues, French-style piazzas, and a port full of azure blue fishing boats. The medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the beautiful fishing harbor are great places to explore each with a great selection of restaurants. There are beautiful sandy beaches nearby renown for excellent surfing spots. 

Don’t miss a camel ride to the famous crumbling fort Bordj El Berod and the traditional souks as well as the famous music and cultural festivals. The Gnaoua World Music festival, the city’s biggest annual event, is held every June and runs for three days – early booking is recommended.
