A Classic Canarian Manor House with Sweeping Atlantic Vistas

This manor house on the island of La Palma sits regally on a hillside overlooking the vast Atlantic Ocean. It's an imposing home with classic Canarian architecture, bold white walls, and rich terracotta roof tiling, but it's the park-like gardens that really stood out to us. They feature a large, romantic pond full of waterlilies, expansive stone terraces, a collection of classical and modern sculptures, beds of succulents, swaying palms, plus a half-moon pool and sweet domed pool house overlooking the water.

Interiors of this villa for rent in the Canary Islands have been given a modern update, with walls in white, punctuated by wooden window and door frames, and accented with splashes of vivid primary colors, bold tiling, and classic Bauhaus and Le Corbusier furnishings. The hammered silver Moroccan sink in the travertine-tiled shared bathroom adds a decadent touch.

There are two twin bedrooms on the ground floor, with sets of mattresses that can be combined or separated. Upstairs is a spacious suite with a large French bed.

This villa for rent in the Canary Islands is located in Puntagorda, a village in the northwest of La Palma, a heart-shaped island filled with secluded beaches, volcanoes and dense forests. Situated between the ravines of Garome and Izcagua, Puntagorda is surrounded in pine and almond trees and famous for its almond blooms in January and February. Come in February for the Almendro en Flor festival, which features music, dancing, and free almond and palm wines, or in August for the Patron festivities in honor of San Mauro Abad.

Make the most of beautiful nearby outdoor spaces at the Barranco de Izcagua and the El Fayal Wood. At weekends, the village hosts a popular market, the Mercadillo, with local produce, wine and cheese, as well as artisan products.

La Palma is famous for its clear night skies with minimal light pollution, so expect to see skies full of stars. Take it one step further at the observatory of the Roque de Los Muchacho, one the largest in the world, which is open to visitors with advance reservations.
