A Val di Noto Fattoria
Surrounded in the rambling countryside in the heart of the Val do Noto, this villa for rent in Sicily immerses you in the authentic history of the region. Built in the 19th century by the Schininà family, the villa tells the story of historic Sicily, of Baroque style and stones, of gardens and centennial olive trees, of a time that stands still.
Crafted from stone in the typical farmhouse style, the interiors were recently restored, preserving the authentic Sicilian flavor and the sophisticated style of the piano nobile.
The space is a harmonious interplay of robustness and spaciousness, which is loosened up by contemporary elements. The grounds are ideal for wandering and exploring the countryside with fruit orchards and a vegetable garden. Elegant and rustic, this property offers a peaceful and authentic rural escape.
Layout
On the ground floor, the “carrittaria” (the chariot chamber) has transitioned into a large living space with a dining room and adjacent kitchen, and barrel-vaulted ceilings.
Each of the three en-suite bedrooms on this floor are carved in high ceilings of stone with double king-sized bedrooms and a loft.
On the second floor, a large panoramic terrace with views towards the fields and the sea gives access to the Baron House with a fireside sitting room, an elegant dining room, and an additional rustic kitchen. There are three additional en-suite double bedrooms here, and a terrace with views of the countryside.
There is a spacious interior courtyard with dining tables and a swimming pool with a sun terrace.
Additional information
There are surveillance cameras in the external areas for the sole purpose of guaranteeing the safety of guests and the villa. There are no cameras inside or in private or sensitive areas. The recordings are not viewed except in case of safety-related needs.
Around
Surrounded by lush farmland, nature reserves and forests, the villa is perfectly positioned to explore Montalbano’s Sicily and the “Vigata”. The province's historic heart, the UNESCO designated city of Ragusa is a Baroque gem perched against the rocky peaks. Divided into both the new and old centers, the historic jumble of alleyways and squares overlook the Via Cap Bocchieri and opposite to the La Rocca Palace.
It’s less than an hour's drive to Marina di Modica, Marina di Ragusa and the Andrea Doria promenade, and some of the best beaches on the island including Sampieri and Donnalucata as well as the beautiful Vendicari Nature Reserve. The nearby UNESCO “sister” cities of Scicli, Modica and Noto are stunning examples of the greater Val di Noto Baroque settlements. Syracuse and Catania are just up the coast along with the famous Mt. Etna.
