Brownstone Loft in the West Village
A little bit old New York with a dash of 21st-century youthful trendsetter, this sun-drenched loft in the West Village fills 1500 square feet, offering two sleep spaces under its soaring ceilings. A peacefully pastel master is set up as a queen bedroom, but it can easily accommodate two singles, while the lofted bed in the rafters is a double, and they share a bathroom.
In classic loft-living style, the space is open and airy, with a living/dining room combo space set under sky-high ceilings. Exposed rafters and beams make it a little bit industrial, though the easygoing décor is soothing, subdued and breezy, with a touch of shabby chic, and is anchored by two fireplaces as classic focal points. A funky little collection of pop art lines the lower walls and a compact kitchen makes for a great staging spot to serve up the city’s famed take out. Leafy indoor plants thrive in the abundant natural light from an oversized skylight. And the large living room windows also offer garden views in the heart of the city.
There are two units in this property that can be rented separately, one with one bedroom and the other with two. Both have a minimum stay of 30 nights. Please inquire for availability.
Around
Located where the West Village meets the Meatpacking District, this loft is a New York City classic. New York City’s West Village is known architecturally for its walk up, Federal-style townhouses and classic city squares, and is bounded by the Hudson River to the West. A landmark bohemian neighborhood, it has always welcomed the creative set, and that’s no exception today, its leafy, cobblestoned streets giving it a romantic yesteryear feeling despite its destination cafes, restaurants and clubs. The legendary Village Vanguard jazz club is near the loft, as is the historic Stonewall Inn bar, origin point of the gay rights movement spurred by the riots of 1969. The neighborhood’s tall trees, quaint squares and well-preserved colonial brownstones mean it’s populated today by a pretty affluent set, transformed from its beginnings as a quiet, 18th-century residential enclave, through its 20th-century bohemian past, to a hip, happening café, boutique and theater/club scene today. The Whitney Museum of American Art is an quick walk away, and Chelsea Market is also within easy reach.
