Located in the historic center of town, this holiday home in Siena is housed in an atmospheric 16th-century palazzo surrounded by neighboring palaces and the sights and sounds of the city. Originally a medieval structure, the palazzo has undergone several layers of renovations through the centuries, with the latest addition designed by architect Paolo Mori.Collaborating with local craftsmen to preserve the lovely features, the apartment now pairs a sleek contemporary perspective without detracting from or competing with its historic significance. Carved out of the larger structure, the apartment features the two main living and kitchen-dining areas capped with soaring frescoed ceilings, original marble and rich herringbone parquet floors, with custom designed furnishings made by local craftsmen.Situated in the original medieval attic of the palazzo, the bedroom is divided into a hallway with a bathroom and a mezzanine. Here you'll see the ancient wooden framework and terracotta bricks. The town is designed around quaint squares with beautiful Baroque architecture and a slow village vibe, and the villa is a short walk to some of the town’s best restaurants and shops.The stunning Baroque city of Lecce, known as the Florence of the South, lies thirty  minutes to the north and the lovely UNESCO fortified port town of Otranto is just fifteen minutes east. Some of the region’s best beaches along the Adriatic including Le Cesine and Nature Reserve, Baia dei Turchi, Torre Del Orso Santa Andrea and Alimini as well as those of the Ionian coast like the small Santa Maria al Bagno village are within a short drive. An hour south are the luxurious seaside resorts of Leuca and Santa Cesarea Terme.There is a grocery store called Valentino nearby on Via Salentina 31, close to the central bar in the main square. It has fresh vegetables, fruits and all you need, and they also prepare homemade dishes and pasta. Otherwise Conad supermarket on the street going towards Maglie (Via Malta) is a big supermarket. <h3>A 16th-Century Palazzo</h3>An oasis of peace and refinement, this villa transports you back in time into a hidden and unexpected inner world just outside the main square in the medieval village of Muro Leccese.

Highlighting the stunning beauty of the nature that surrounds it, this small luxury hotel in India is placed to take advantage of panoramic views of the Nanda Devi Range and the distant Himalayas.&nbsp;
Designed by Sri Lankan firm Zowa Architects, the hotel pays homage to local culture and craftsmanship and was constructed using all locally sourced, natural materials.
Comprised of a cluster of individual chalets, the structures are scattered across the site on staggered terraces. Rooms are either Lower Chalet, with gardens to sit out in, or Upper Chalet, with sunken outdoor terraces. The main building sits at the highest point of the site, with a dramatic cantilevered dining room, a spacious lounge, library, and an outdoor dining terrace. The bold Brutalist concrete forms are clad in bamboo to dissolve the visual impact that the buildings can have in a sensitive environment.
Local artisans and craftsmen were enlisted to create everything from the furniture and accessories to the textiles, drawing on nearby Almora's traditional weavers.
The hotel is in the process of becoming eco-friendly with all of the structures designed with rain water catchment to be used throughout the property and to replant seasonal crops to be used in its kitchen and on the restaurant's menu.
Blending into its surroundings, this unique hotel immerses you into the stunning scenery with captivating natural design.

The Kumaon is a perfect base for exploring the ancient city of Almora, the magical Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Kasar Devi ridge. Walk through quiet villages, wander through oak forests to the temples, or relax in the mountain sunshine.

 From a distance, The Kumaon appears like a tidy bundle of bamboo canes and neatly piled stones sitting in a peaceful clearing within a pine forest. It is this rustic simplicity that lends an inimitable soul to this small luxury hotel in India.&nbsp;
Upon closer inspection, the scene reveals itself as a sensible play of geometry typical of iconic Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa&rsquo;s Tropical Modernism. Architects Jineshi Samaraweera and Pradeep Kodikara, a disciple of Bawa, created these holiday homes precisely in this school of thought, employing dedicated measures to remain sensitive to the local context.&nbsp;
The cluster of chalets and the main common area&mdash; cantilevered to reach out towards India&rsquo;s second highest peak&mdash; were built using stoned quarried nearby, bamboo, pinewood from the surrounding forests, and ash bricks. Naturally, it bears the palette of its surroundings. Soothing shades of muted brick, ocre, and lovely grey-mauve hues immerse guests in nature.&nbsp;
The ultimate treat? A cool drink on the roof surrounded by breathtaking vistas, with an eye below for the leopards that roam at sunset.
