I found the Eames chair on a street in Queens, abandoned after an apartment fire and sent it to one of the premier restoration houses in the country to be loved again. When you think of a French farmhouse, you think stone walls, tiled roof, climbing roses, and acacia and walnut trees. Ideally it's surrounded in vineyards. With this property, you get all that plus a private swimming pool. This 18th-century farmhouse with stables and hayloft has been converted into a home that's suitable for five guests. We love the attention to traditional style, including the beautiful blue shutters, terracotta tiled floors, patterned tiles on the kitchen walls, wooden beamed ceilings, and airy French windows. Plus all the details - from modern art to vintage finds. The kitchen even has an open range with a log-burning stone oven which is 240 years old.The house opens into a large kitchen with adjoining dining room, and has a large living area with open fire. On the first floor are the three bright bedrooms and a spacious bathroom with bathtub. There are large patios, and the swimming pool is just a few steps from the patio and barbecue area. ADDITIONAL FEATURESThe kitchen has an electric cooker, grill, microwave, dishwasher, extractor fan and fridge/freezer. Renovated old Finca. The task was to retain old finca charms but transfer it to a light contemporary design experience. Only 7 minutes from the shores the finca is set hilltop overlooking a valley.  

<h2 id="ancientfarmhousemademodernonmallorca">Ancient Farmhouse Made Modern on Mallorca</h2>
With some of its vast, 500 square meters dating from medieval times, this stony finca presents a contemporary reinterpretation of a rural farmhouse designed to preserve its ancient charms and meet the demands of modern life. Enter through its antique entrance into a welcoming entrada, one of several seating spaces built around the property for luxurious relaxation.
Renovated common areas include a living room with a view, a separate TV room and a fully equipped contemporary kitchen. Five spacious bedroom suites offer four king- and two queen-sized beds, with one suite featuring an open fireplace and another a private loggia. Each of the five unique rooms offers a living area with a sleeper sofa, armchairs, and a workstation, and one bath features an indoor/outdoor space outfitted with an external shower. The living room has a notable modern fireplace, an angular contemporary addition that adds sculptural flair, surrounded by a classic Mallorcan-styled built-in sofa.
A sweep through the fully renovated home reveals a décor palette that tends towards subdued organic hues, and clean-lined, hotel quality furnishings that include a mix of Mallorcan farm furniture, antique finds and sleek modern pieces to complement the original architecture. Multiple terraces exist around the property, and an alfresco dining terrace for 14 guests is shaded. The property’s garden and pool area offer established Mediterranean trees and shrubs, a large grassy area, and two pool cabanas, a shower and toilet, plus umbrella-shaded sun beds and an outdoor kitchen with an Argentinian asado grill space. There’s a dedicated mature cactus garden, and a small vegetable garden and lemon garden, too.
A detached, two-story, 35sqm casita for two is available as an additional lodging and is located some 20 meters from the original finca.
<h3 id="additionalfeatures">Additional features</h3>
The home benefits from a treatment system that uses UV light to purify water. The finca is equipped with fiber optics with access points throughout the home and outdoor spaces, and there’s a Sonos music system in the kitchen/living area and a 65in smart TV in a dedicated TV room. The home’s heat pumps are solar operated as is its AC system, and there’s a sauna and relaxation room in-home as well.
<h3 id="around">Around</h3>
The property’s hilltop location offers views of the Puig de Santeuri and the Castel of the same name, across lands still cultivated with vegetables. S’Horta means “vegetable garden,” and the village sits some five kilometers inland from the coast, where two pretty coves, the Cala Sa Nau and Cala Mitjana, await. The coastal towns of Portocolom and Cala D’Or are minutes from the farmhouse by car and both offer a wealth of dining, shopping and recreational opportunities. Vibrant Cala d’Or is a yachting port and with a medieval castle watching over it. The town is also easily accessible to the Mondragó Natural Park, famed for its aquatic birdlife including ospreys. Portocolom, a traditional fishing village is set around one of the island’s largest sheltered bays. Boathouses, a lighthouse, and dozens of colorful fishing boats line its quay, and guided boating trips are available from this harbor area as well. 
Portocolom, named for Christopher Columbus, is also home to an ancient burial ground or prehistoric naveta, and its blue flag beaches, such as Cala Marcal, offer sandy shallow waters that are family-friendly. The town’s pastel houses are postcard worthy. For great dining and the region’s delicious local food and produce options, head to the lively market town of Santanyi, some 18 kilometers to the south, with markets each Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The home is also 47 kilometers from the Aqualnd El Arenal Water Park, and the Coves del Dra are only 21 kilometers from the property.

Deep in the Sicilian countryside on two wild hectares, this once abandoned farmhouse has been upgraded by architect Ignazio Mortellaro of Beit Studio (Palermo &amp; London), who has preserved the ancient stable and refitted it with three sparely poetic bedrooms, a pair of living areas, an eat-in kitchen, and ample space for 10 guests to spread out both indoors and out into the old courtyard and garden with its hammocks and olive, fig and almond trees. The house is 10 kilometers from the nearest town and even closer (7km) to the supermarket. The house is also easily accessible to Ragusa and Scicli.
The protected and stunningly beautiful Vendicari Nature Reserve is just a short drive away and home to some of the best beaches on the island, including Lido di Noto and Avola. The reserve is located halfway between Noto and Pachino, extending into almost 4,000 acres of forests and undisturbed marine and bird ecosystems that open to a clear sea and long, golden beaches, including Tonnara, Eloro, Pizzuta, Calamosche and Marianelli.
Don't miss the port town of Siracusa, as well as Ortigia, a significant archaeological area with an ancient Greek amphitheater, the Orecchio di Dionisio Cave, Apollo’s Temple and the Teatro Romana ruins.
The pretty seaside fishing village of Marzamemi is well worth a visit, and is known for its seafood and central Tonnara square, full of traditional restaurants and bars.
South of Noto, the Marina di Modica, Marina di Ragusa and the Andrea Doria promenade feature some of the most popular beaches on the entire island, including Sampieri, Pozzallo and Donnalucata.
