A two-story home that sleeps up to 12 in its four double bedrooms and bunkroom for four, it’s built on a hill, covers multiple terraced levels outdoors, and has its own private staircase down to the beach, situated only a few hundred feet from the house.Each of the villa's five bedrooms has its own private bath, and some rooms open out to private patios with planters and flowering beds or offer views out to sea. The interior décor is fun, funky and colorful with an easygoing vibe. Kids will love the bunkroom, with its cute built-ins and round windows, and adults will love the indoor workout room with its therapeutic hot tub. Two living rooms allow for spreading out. There’s a sitting room with a fireplace, and second living area designed for respite from the summer sun. The open-plan kitchen has been fully updated and equipped, and it features a big central island. Cafes, bars and restaurants range from the trendsetting to the typical, and there is a nightlife scene mostly along the seafront. In fact, Villa Madie, an innovative Mediterranean restaurant that sits overlooking the water, and its chef Dimitri Droisneau have just been awarded three stars by Michelin Guide.Just outside of town, Cassis offers white sand beaches, pebbled bays, romantic coves and dramatic cliffs. Mysterious footpaths lead through windswept pines, and isolated inlets accessible only by boat  surround the town for miles in each direction along the Mediterranean. Water sports are abundant as are bright recreational ports, sailboat harbors and markets, plus docks where the daily catch might be hauled out of a colorful fishing boat. Cassis's castle soars over the village and further inland, local vineyards produce a bright white wine bearing the town’s name. The nearby village of La Ciotat was once a shipbuilding center and is also said to be the birthplace of pétanque, or the French game also known as boules. Set on a low bluff just steps from the a private cove, this beach house rental in Sicily is architect Armando Barraja’s vision of classic modernist design and carefree holiday fun. Entering through the upper level courtyard, you step down into a central living and dining room with a fireplace and a glass facade overlooking breathtaking views of the sea, Cape Zafferano and out across to the Aeolian Islands. A UNESCO designated town and historic fishing harbor, the pretty medieval streets are dominated by a 12th century Norman cathedral and an ancient hilltop fortress and is known for its excellent restaurants that serve local seafood and wines and its many interesting shops. The rugged Madonie Mountains National Park are just over an hour drive inland with great hiking and forest trails and several medieval villages to explore.Sicily’s capital city is a chaotic slightly unpredictable place with several cultural and social influences. Placed perfectly in the heart of the old city, you’re at the ideal jumping off point to explore and are just a few minutes walk from either side of Piazza San Domenico and the city’s main street, Via Roma.A fascinating mix of Roman, Arabian, Baroque and Norman influences, the city is a melting pot of style and culture. <p>Pairing modern architectural lines and breathtaking natural scenery, this beach house rental in Sicily by architect Armando Barraja was designed to cut off the chaotic world and, instead, refocus inward and out to sea.</p>
<p>The strong composition and architectural vision invokes classic modernism, drawing inspiration from Lloyd Wright, Alvar Alto and Venetian, Carlo Scarpa, with subtle nautical design features like portholes and balustrade railings, that suggests a ship at sea. From the smallest constructive detail up to the proportional rhythms of the modular units, this villa recalls the love for Euclidian geometry.</p>
<p>Built in the 1980s as a family holiday home, the house is now in the capable hands of the second generation. In addition to being an architect, Barraja was a keen interior designer, founding an import company in the 1970s. A small collection of rare modernist pieces remain from the era including&nbsp;Panton, Breuer, Sapper, a divider by Franco Albini, chairs by Werner Panton and Marcel Breuer, a marble table by Dino Gavina, and lounge chairs belonging to the family since the 1920’s.&nbsp;</p>

Newly rebuilt but covered with the original Langhe stone, the pastoral outpost stands surrounded by thick woods silhouetted by Piemonte peaks, and vineyards extending in every direction in the valley below.Once the dream home of a natural outdoorsman, it was passed on to his family, an entrepreneurial Danish couple who completed the renovation, creating a tranquil refuge in a lovely clearing. Stables and communal workspaces now display smooth plasters and natural inlaid stones in soft hues. Radiant heat warms underfoot, and a modern, woodburning stove adds coziness to the living room. Simple wooden furnishings and natural textile accents soften the ebonized steel door jambs, stairwells and window frames, and a muted earthen décor palette feels right at home. Carefully reconstructed of its original rock, the neat, two-story refuge was brought back from quasi-ruin by its Danish owners and now dominates the surrounding countryside.A statement of purity and simplicity inside and out, the stone mass of this villa for rent in Italy is softened by wide arching windows and the lush, overflowing flower beds that enclose it. Six bedrooms and three baths fill the former agricultural outpost, some bedrooms tucked under dramatic, vaulted stone ceilings with alcoves as decorative ledges and shelves. Softly muted plasters and textiles create a sense of tranquility inside, in contrast to the home’s stony exterior, although it too is trim and clean lined, renovated authentically, albeit with a modern vision. Outdoor lounge areas also feature original stone walls and platforms softened by plump cushions and rock ledges, and sills tamed by softly lit lanterns and lush plantings. Hammocks, a dart board, chaise loungers and a campfire circle add to the country home allure, and a barbecue, pizza oven and outdoor fireplace create opportunities for alfresco gathering.The home’s 12-meter infinity pool was constructed of mosaic stones, and it sits high on a lawn above the house, cut into a green foothill. <p>Secluded in the green foothills of Italy’s lesser-traveled Piedmont region, in the uppermost reaches of its northern bootleg, this stony, tile-roofed outpost exudes bold, simple luxury. Carefully reconstructed of its original rock, the neat, two-story refuge was brought back from quasi-ruin by its Danish owners and now dominates the surrounding countryside.</p>
<p>A statement of purity and simplicity inside and out, the stone mass of this villa for rent in Italy is softened by wide arching windows and the lush, overflowing flower beds that enclose it. Six bedrooms and three baths fill the former agricultural outpost, some bedrooms tucked under dramatic, vaulted stone ceilings with alcoves as decorative ledges and shelves.
